Motivational May May tends to be quite a busy time in many Australian organisations. The end of financial year is almost upon Winter is coming… which means the days are us which keeps many People and Culture getting colder and shorter and many of us need departments busy rolling out performance that extra boost to our days. reviews, salary reviews, engagement surveys, and all things necessary for the EOFY reporting. WRK+ has collated six initiatives to keep your team members engaged during this cooler and busier period.
Star Wars Day May the fourth be with you! 4th May Who amongst your team members is an epic Star Wars fan? Todays fun activity could be to ask asking your team members to post their Star Wars stories, quotes, and photos on social media.
Cino de Mayo Spanish for Fifth of May, Cino de Mayo is a fiesta 5th May that is traversing the globe. It’s an annual celebration of the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla. But while the historical significance is important to the US and Mexico, we’re just here for the tasty food and drinks. Sombreros, mariachi, and tacos in the office anyone?
This day has a special resonance for the LGBT community. International It was on 17 May 1990 that the World Health Organisation removed Day Against homosexuality from the International Statistical Classification of Diseases Homophobia and and Related Health Problems. Transphobia In Australia, 75% of LGBTIQ youth experience some form of discrimination. By marking 17th May IDAHOBIT, you’re showing support for all the people who are suffering discrimination and violence because of who they are. You’re also making it very clear to your employees and customers that homophobia, biphobia and transphobia won’t be tolerated in your business. Also, this is a chance for you to show support for people outside your company, people with whom you may never have contact. It’s an opportunity to speak up against hatred and intolerance and show solidarity.
National Corporate volunteering provides your organisation Volunteer with the opportunity to develop skills, build Week teams and bolster your reputation within your 17 – 21st May local community. In the lead up to this week, highlight your organisations involvement in the community, feature team members who are active volunteers outside of the workplace, and encourage your employees to try something new by signing up for one of your organisations volunteering programs.
One in four of Australians were born overseas; World Day for 46% have at least one parent who was born Cultural Diversity overseas; and nearly 20 per cent of Australians speak 21st May a language other than English at home. Stolen generations refer to Indigenous Australians who were forcibly removed from their families and communities. Your organisation can book a vast variety of aboriginal performance, welcome, smoking ceremony or art workshop organise a speech from community leaders an Indigenous Australian elders or an aboriginal educator to share their story.
