CITY PRESENTATION Parma is in the centre of the Italian Food Valley, with an overall high employment rate of 70% The economic department is due to the agri-food industry, covering the whole chain: typical product and their produce associations, restaurants, award-winning chef, research and safety, agrifood industries, academics of Italian cuisine, cultural and educational project, international, national and local exihibitions, food museums. «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
UNESCO On 11 December Parma was official invited to take part in the Unesco Creative Cities Network The Project Parma Unesco proposes a new model of urban design through an innovative approach to the themes of identity, creativity and sustainable development «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
PARMA CREATIVE CITY The objective is to create a culturally based development model that combines the principles of creativity shown by Unesco, to the agrifood vocation of the territory KNOWLEDGE, CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION AS DRIVERS FOR ACTION: Parma is completely focused on developing its own competitiveness at an international level, including its University and youth creativity programmes. «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
UNESCO PARMA UNESCO CREATIVE CITY PROJECT OF GASTRONOMY FOOD SCIENCE AND FOOD LABS An essential part of the project consists in the realization of innovative University structures dedicated to the Food field: here, experimentation and research in the agri-food sector could be developed in an interdisciplinary way and reach high performances. OBJECTIVES • To strengthen the University-Land dialogue, making the outbound skills more congruent with the local professional requirements • To enhance educational activities • To promote scientific research and innovation • To internationalize the educational offer of the University • To improve the positioning and the reputation of the University and of the city «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
PARMAAND FOOD SCIENCE UNESCO UNESCO CREATIVE CITY FOOD LABS PROJECT OF GASTRONOMY University Food Project The project consists in a construction project concerning directly the Food Science Department, currently lacking a building appropriate to its functions, and a Scuola di Alta Formazione Sugli Alimenti e la Nutrizione (International advanced training school on food and nutrition) aimed at offering specialized postgraduate training. International MASTER in Food Design Open LAB Promoted by the Municipality of Parma within the regional founding program POR-FESR 2014/2020, Axis 6 “Attractive and active cities”, is an integral part of the strategy of urban sustainable development and, more specifically, of the strategy of functional recovery of the St. Paul monastery monumental complex. The purpose of the LAB is to create a participatory culture, an urban collaborative ecosystem achieved through social innovation strategies, sharing economy, public collaboration and a collaborative governance for local development. «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
UNESCO PARMA UNESCO CREATIVE CITY PROJECT OF GASTRONOMY FOOD & NUTRITION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH The program is dedicated to fostering gastronomy, food education and healthy lifestyles among children and youth. For a number of years now, Parma has actively collaborated with the Ministry of Education, the University, CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) and Barilla Industry, from which originated the innovative project called Giocampus. This experience has been able to catalyze different resources encouraging the establishment of innovative companies such as, for example, the university spin-off MaDeGus - the Masters of taste. OBJECTIVES To promote and implement food education To encourage research and innovation in food and nutrition education To further enrich the schools’ curriculum with information about the gastronomic and cultural activities related to food education To facilitate cultural exchanges and the mobility of professionals, researchers, students «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
UNESCO PARMA UNESCO CREATIVE CITY PROJECT OF GASTRONOMY ERASMUS PLUS The project designated in 2016 for the Erasmus Plus program provides for the involvement of elementary schools of the cities of Parma, Dénia (Spain), Bergen (Norway) and Östersund (Sweden). It is dedicated to cultural exchanges and to the sharing of best practices and experiences. The key themes are food education and food culture. The Erasmus Plus project is currently in progress and the involved schools’ headmasters had a meeting in Dénia in October. «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
UNESCO PARMA UNESCO CREATIVE CITY PROJECT OF GASTRONOMY FOOD FOR FUTURE, FOOD FOR GROWTH The program is dedicated to implement and bring to a higher level of development Maison Parma, an agri-food Centre of decentralized cooperation located in the northern zone of Bujumbura (Burundi), promoted by the Association Parmaalimenta. The Centre provides a concrete response to the numerous problems experienced daily by producers. In particular, the integration proposed for this program concerns the introduction of a portal E-learning Maison Parma which, thanks to its ICT resources, will be a useful tool in safeguarding the right to education, and specific training in the agri-food and gastronomic sector as well as transversally to the other themes of the network OBJECTIVES To provide tools for decentralized cooperation To share best practices, experiences and expertise To promote self-sufficiency and sustainable development in disadvantaged areas To implement joint programming actions «Marketing international students and scientist»- Magdeburg 30-31 March 2017
