FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK Dear Crusaders, We are so excited to begin another year of in-person instruction. Through the Safer and Stronger Together protocols, we were able to have a successful year in 2020-2021. We were also able to gather a significant amount of information about safety in our schools. Through this process the Diocesan COVID Task Force was able to glean valuable objective data points from its 19 schools, in all regions of the diocese, throughout an entire academic year. This have given rise to Faithfully Forward, the 2021-2022 protocols for our schools. Herein lie the protocols which prioritize safety while supporting our goal of providing as normal of a learning environment as possible. As we travel throughout the year, our school, along with my counterparts, will be in contact with the Catholic Schools Office. The communications will be two-way, whereby allowing me to share data with the CSO and also receive the best thinking of the CSO (based upon the most recent data). As such, if items need to be updated, we will notify you. Most important is our prayer life. Let us continue to ask for the protection of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. If God is for us, who can be against. Yours in Christ, Carl A. Semmler, Ed.D. Principal CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL PAGE 1
FAITHFULLY FORWARD COVID 2021-22 PROTOCOLS Students in School: We look forward to welcoming our students back to the hallways of Christ the King Catholic High School. We continue to prioritize in-person learning knowing this is the optimal environment for our students’ holistic development. Please note that self-chosen, long-term distance learning will not be an option for the 2021-2022 academic year. Quarantined students (which should be limited) will be able to Google Meet to class. School Environment: When students return to their classrooms, they will feel a sense of safety and excitement. They will no longer see barriers or signage limiting their movement and interactions. The hallways and bulletin boards will be illuminated with art and work samples as they learn and grow in faith and academics. LEARNING CONTINUUM As we move through this upcoming school year, we must continue to monitor the pandemic and respond to the individual needs of our school community. Our learning continuum will remain in place for the 2021-2022 school year. A decision to move from one model of instruction to another will be made in consultation with school administration and the CSO. CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL PAGE 2

WHAT WILL THE RESPONSE BE FOR A POSITIVE COVID CASE WITHIN ESSENTIAL THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY? QUESTIONS If your child or a family member tests positive for COVID, please contact School Nurse Stephanie Miller (smiller@ctkchs.net) immediately. If contact tracing is necessary, the administration/nurse will communicate with the appropriate individuals, including the local health department. COVID cases will not be reported community wide to protect the privacy of those affected. We do not communicate any other illness or health concern to our wider school community. WHAT IS THE PROTOCOL FOR CONTACT TRACING ON CAMPUS? In the spring of 2021, we decreased our social distancing and contact tracing measures to 3 feet. Data collected diocesan-wide during the implementation of this change has shown that no additional spread resulted in our schools. Our protocol for contact tracing for the 2021-2022 school year will include siblings, carpool members and those identified as a direct contact (within 3 feet for 15 minutes or longer) with a positive case.
