Page 4 ISSUE #916 - May 28, 2021 Lockington Consolidated School News Our Grade 6 students wrote and illustrated a fictional book for their Prep buddies and read and presented it to them. The books main character was their prep buddy and they had to present an underlying message in the story, eg: bravery, kindness, resilience! Terrific work everyone! Smoking Ceremony Last week the whole school attended a very special Smoking Ceremony to officially open the Dreamtime Garden. It was an amazing opportunity to not only celebrate the hard work students have put in, but also to recognise and appreciate our local indigenous culture and traditions. We would like to extend a big thank you to Uncle Rick Ronnan for all of his hard work throughout this project, and for performing the ceremony. We are very lucky to have someone such as Rick here in our community! We would also like to thank Kathy Connors for all of the effort she has put in and is still doing so! All of the behind the scenes work certainly does not go unnoticed and we are lucky to have Mrs Connors here at LCS!
ISSUE #916 - May 28, 2021 Page 5 LOCKINGTON SENIOR CITIZENS INC. REPORT It was great to hold our party following last year’s shut We are pleased to report on our recent seniors’ annual down and good to see so many out and about again. birthday party following a non event last year. Blessings to all. Held at the Community Hall with eleven other clubs, Shire and Bendigo Bank Representatives, Bev welcomed all Dot Pearse and showed gratitude to all who came. Secretary Milloo CWA did their usual excellent job with catering. Our entertainer was Reg Poole who did us proud. During the day lucky door and raffle prizes were drawn with Norm, Alan and Monda being the lucky winners of plants and preserves. Members of other clubs were also lucky recipients. A most enjoyable fruit cake made by Betty Mustey and delightfully decorated by local Cheryl Fisher was cut by Val Kuiper. We were extremely grateful for the wonderful grant we received from Bendigo Bank which made the event the success that it was. We were saddened not to have Joy Weller with us as she was a very valuable source of help and knowledge as our Assistant Secretary to our Club. Annual Lions Change Over Dinner On Wednesday 12th May the Lockington Lions club held their Change over Dinner at the Bowls club. Our District Goveror, Carol Kennedy, Zone Chairman Ian Whatley and members from Elmore, Rochester and Echuca, Councillor Leanne Pentreath and local identities enjoyed a lovely meal which was served by ladies from the school and 3 members of the YAGers. John Van Den Bosch was inducted for President, Marg Dowie for Secretary and Phillip Cunnington for Treasurer. A new member, Bill Kitson was inducted into our club also.

We have all had to make do, compromise, and use what we already have,” explains Mawson. The collection of art, that includes works on paper, canvas and board, celebrates the creativity individuals can gain from focusing on what is immediately before us, and what comes from within.
