The natural beauty of the area will astound you and is sure to awaken your inner child. This is a once in a lifetime journey… DAY 1: THURSDAY 25TH FEBRUARY 2021 We depart from OR Tambo International airport in Johannesburg, excited and ready try out new and unusual activities, experiences and cultures. DAY 2: FRIDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2021 On arrival at Kittilä airport, we will be transferred to our hotel in Levi, located high up in the Arctic Circle. This lovely snow-covered alpine style ski resort is the perfect setting for our Lappish experience. Our hotel is well situated in the heart of the enchanting village of Levi, perfect for exploring nearby, cozy places. Dinner is a gastronomic introduction to Lappish cuisine. Located in an underground restaurant, in addition to a selection of many different dishes, including reindeer, you will feast on the juiciest smoked salmon that is slowly prepared on the open fire. During desert, Niiles-Jouni Aiko, a local artist in traditional dress and a member of the Sami, the oldest indigenous tribe in Europe, will entertain us with local Lappish music and songs. If we are lucky, on our walk back to the hotel, we may even glimpse the Northern Lights. Overnight: Levi Meals: Welcome dinner

2021 | LAPLAND Dates: 25 FEBRUARY – 06 MARCH 2021 DAY 6: TUESDAY 2ND MARCH 2021 A new adventure awaits as our bus transfers us to Rovaniemi, the home of Santa Claus. Our hotel is located in “Santa Claus’ Village” – you could not wish for a better location as the Arctic Circle passes through the village. Christmas is celebrated year-round here – you can visit Santa’s post office, the workshop where all the toys are made and you can even meet Santa himself! Take yourself back and bring out your inner child as you remember days gone by… We enjoy a 3-course lunch and get together again this evening for dinner while we share tales of our journey thus far. Overnight: Rovaniemi Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner DAY 7: WEDNESDAY 3RD MARCH 2021 Breakfast is delicious – from fresh croissants to delicious smoked salmon and trout! Hunger quenched, we take a short trip to the natural science and history museum, the Arktikum. Here, we learn how the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) are formed and how things come together within the Arctic Circle. In addition to a number of other items of interest, you can see polar bears and huge moose up close. If you elect not to join the OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL EXCURSION (additional cost - see below), enjoy your leisure time exploring Rovaniemi’s grocery shops for some interesting items like tinned bear meat and reindeer biltong. OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL EXCURSION: For those wanting something more unusual, join us for a sail on the Samo ice-breaker that departs from Kemi harbour. Experience the thrill of seeing how the powerful engines and unique structure of these sea-going vessels crush ice that is metres thick. You also have the option of an Arctic swim – we don specialized wetsuits over our clothing and bob in the ice fields between the pack ice (you do not need to be able to swim). 2021 | LAPLAND Dates: 25 FEBRUARY – 06 MARCH 2021 DAY 8: THURSDAY 4TH MARCH 2021 Today’s highlight is a snow mobile ride through snow covered woods and over frozen rivers and lakes. The view from the upper outlook points over the frozen landscape is indescribably beautiful and breathtaking. The highlights do not stop there! Later, we check-in to the Arctic Snow Hotel were we overnight in glass roofed ‘igloos’. Tonight, you can snuggle up in bed under the heated glass roof to see if the Northern Lights will grace you with a show… Before that, we visit the unique and renowned Ice Hotel, situated next door, where everything is constructed from ice. We have dinner here, served in dishes and plates made of ice – in fact, even your drinks are served in ice glasses. You will also have an opportunity to enjoy a jacuzzi located in the snow or even an ice sauna. Overnight: Rovaniemi Meals: Breakfast and dinner DAY 9: FRIDAY 5TH MARCH 2021 This morning, for old time’s sake, we try our hand at ice carving followed by a very special lunch that will ensure that you remember Lapland for a long time to come. At the ‘Kota Teepee’, fresh, juicy salmon are stacked on boards and slowly prepared on the nearby open fires. The menu is varied and those that do not eat fish are well catered for. After lunch, we make our way to the airport for our flight home. We are confident you will have many experiences to add to your life story and we are sure you will have made many new friends as well.
