Term 3 Newsletter 19/14 12 Sept 2019 Phone/Absence Line 04 902 5596 office@raumatibeach.school.nz Dear Parents and Guardians Nau mai ki Maori Reo Wiki 2019. Kua whakaratohia e au etahi hononga ka pai pea ki a koe. Welcome to Maori Language Week 2019. I have provided some links that may be helpful to you. You will find these below. This week we have celebrated in a number of ways throughout the school. On Wednesday – parents were invited to see our learning in action. Between 9.00 and 10.00am Year 3-8 Kapa haka shared what they are currently working on. Also at the same time Year 5 & 6 shared their activity rotations in the learning street for parents to wander through. Team Kapiti also shared similar learning among four of the classrooms allowing parents to visit. On Thursday after lunch, Wharemauku invited their whanau to some in class activities, before combining for waiata in the hall. Thank you to those of you who were able to be part of our school learning on this occasion. This allows us to now look to create an International Student Programme at Raumati Beach School. The programme will compliment what already occurs at Kapiti College with RBS having a focus on short term stays. Next term one of our first steps will be to create a register of Homestay Families for these visits. This would be a wonderful opportunity for interested families to host a student in their home for a short period of time. Having these students in our school will also provide opportunities for our students currently studying languages, especially Mandarin to interact with native speakers. International programmes also raise valuable funds which can then
be used to further support / develop areas of the school. More information will be provided once we are ready to take our next step. ONLINE UNIFORM SHOP As mentioned previously, we will be moving our uniform purchases online from Term 4 this year. Our supplier Argyle, will operate this platform for us. The Argyle Online Shop will be available at all times for parents to use. The school will hold a sample range of each item, if you wish to come and physically try on an item. Uniform will not be available to purchase on Kindo. We are selling end of line stock on Kindo for $10 for the rest of this term. Please note that size 12 polo shirts are unavailable until Term 4 through Argyle Online. A small range of second hand items are still available this term from the Uniform Shop for $10. OUT OF SCHOOL CARE The BoT is in the process of conducting a due diligence check on the proposal. Once we have done this we will let you know what will be happening. CAR PARKING Thank you to those of you who have parked more considerately. We unfortunately still have one or two parents who insist on parking in the Mobility Parks. We are asking you again to please refrain from this. Neither the school nor Kapiti College wish to go down the enforcement pathway.
