● Bexar County and East Central Entries
   Date: October 10, 2019 (4:30 – 7:00 pm)
   Location: Ag Building
   Entry Verification Date: 11/5/19 – At the FFA Meeting
● Major Show Entries
   Date: November 6, 2019 (4:30 – 7:00 pm)

Livestock Show Entries 2019-2020 - East Central ISD
Requirements of EC FFA
              Members
● All students must attend 75% of the meetings from August
  to December in order to be eligible exhibit an animal or
  project at the East Central Livestock & Project Show.
● Students must make an entry to exhibit at least 1 animal
  at spring major livestock show or the Bexar County
  Livestock to be eligible for the local stock show.
● Jr. FFA members may show in the East Central Show, but
  they must meet all the requirements
● Each Family is required to sell a minimum of 1-$50 ad for
  the East Central Show in addition each family will receive
  raffle tickets from the Booster club.
● Attend a minimum of 2 EC FFA Booster Club work days
● Must be Quality Counts Certified for your age level

Highlights/Rule Changes
State Fair of Texas – Entries Already Due
●   May only show 1 steer
●   Certified Texas Bred Premium Show for barrows
●   Sr. Scholarships online in December
●   No limit to heifer entries
●   Stalled Upon Arrival
●   Blow and Go, clipping allowed (must pass the white towel test) for
    heifers.
●   Must have original registration papers for all breeding animals &
    ownership deadlines must be followed. See rules.
●   Breeding stock (including Heifers do require current Health papers)
●   Science Fair (10/9), Speaking (10/16), and many more contest

         Bexar County Livestock Show
▪ No Clipping of any kind on the SALE grounds. Steers- this
  is now a Slick Show.
● Original registration papers required. Ownership
  deadlines must be followed. See rules.
● Remember too send out your buyer invitation by
  Thanksgiving. Everyone is asked to send out at least 3
  letters (especially new buyers).
● Buyer fee ($500) to ‘buy into’ the Auction.

● This is a Premium Auction – a week after the show

● Rules and Judges will be posted on the website

● Heifers must be validated

          Fort Worth Livestock Show

Overlap with San Antonio Dates
● Calf Scramble applications will be available on Oct. 1st
   and slots will be given on a 1st come 1st serve basis
   ○ 22 performances starting Jan 17- Feb. 7
● Ft. Worth Entries are due to us by Oct. 10th. If you plan to
  show a steer – You will need to purchase 2 additional
  entries, in order to be guaranteed a stall space. Stall
  spaces are only filled at 75% or less.
● Steer exhibitors are responsible for weighing and tagging
  their own steers.
● No Drenching! Nothing given by mouth is allowed

           Fort Worth Livestock Show

● 2/4/20 to 2/7/20 steer show dates – Auction 2/8/20
  ● Classify on Wednesday Feb. 5th
  ● Steers will now show in the Will Rogers Coliseum
  ● Weight minimum of 1,000 lbs
● All animals must have health papers!
● This is a haired show for steers – DO NOT PLAN to BRING
  OTHERS INTO EC STALLS – There is not enough room!
● Heifers must be validated. Additional Stall Space /head
  should be purchased.
● Entries will be accepted on heifers born on or after Jan 1, 2018

●   Lambs (2/1-2/2) 4 breed TLBA Tag format, must have tags in ear at
    validation and information recorded on validation form
●   CTBR Jr. Gilts (2/7 – 2/9) – Judges are Jim & Mike McCoy, Bloomingburg, OH
●   CTBRT 8 Breed Format – Gilts Selected will sell in special gilt sale.
    ● Gilts must be state validated. Must sell if you place in this show.
●   Original Registration papers required with the exception of scramble
    papers. Ownership deadlines must be followed. See rules.

    requirements on or before December 1st!
●   ALL Jr. Crossbred gilts qualifying for the auction are
    required to sell!
●   Jr. Boer Breeding goats will show on Feb. 9th at 8 am
●   NEW official turn in weight limits on market goats are a
    minimum of 60 lbs and MAXIMUM of 120 lbs
●   Dorpers have been added to the market lamb show
    ○ There will be 2 classes
● Official turn in weights on market lambs turn in weight
    limits is a minimum of 100 lbs and a maximum of 120 lbs

   show and junior show cattle are check-in separately.

Highlights/Rule Changes
                Houston Livestock Show
● Kiosks check-in system will be continued this year, but with a barcode
  attached to your weight cards.

● Heifers papers, tattoos and brands will be checked on the top 4 placing
  heifers at the conclusion of each class. Exhibitor will forfeit all winnings if
  their heifer does not match the registration papers. A complete Copy of
  your heifer papers must be sent in with your entries. Papers must also be
  submitted for any heifer’s papers you may substitute. Heifers must be
  validated

● Barrows, Heifers, and Steers will be stalled on arrival

● Barrow Wave 1 will be dark hogs (3/14-16)

● Barrow Wave 2 will be light hogs (3/17-19)

             Houston Livestock Show
● Sheep, Goats, Swine: No drench guns may be used in any
  stall/pen, aisle, or walkway. Stomach pumping, drench tubes
  or any other method (by esophagus) is prohibited.

● Junior Breeding Gilt, Open/Junior Breeding Sheep &
  Open/Youth Breeding Goat Bedding
  ● Pens will be stripped to concrete at arrival, a voucher will
    be supplied during penning for a bag of shavings per pen
    assigned. Cost of shavings is built into the entry fee for
    these shows.
  ● Shavings for market shows will work the same as past years
    with purchasing shavings at the 288 staging lot.
  ● Outside shavings are PROHIBITED

 ● Drug Testing
   ○ Drug tested turkeys will have feathers pulled to test for
      ractopamine
   ○ In 2020 and subsequent years, Rodeo Austin will
      disqualify for ractopamine. Feather and fecal samples
      will be collected
 ● Market barrow show will begin at 8 am both days and
   Yorkshires will show on the first day!
Late Fees and Other Charges
● Chapter Late Fee of $25/family for all late entries
● State Fair of Texas $100/. After 9-1-16 $250/entry
● Fort Worth - No Late entries – Not Accepted
● San Antonio – Dec. 1-15, 2019 Double the entry fee, Dec. 16,
   2019 to Check-in will be additional $250.00 plus entry fee if
   accepted
● San Antonio requires the exhibitors birth date
● San Angelo – Additional $200 fee plus entry until check-in is
   completed until Dec. 15
● Houston- Dec. 2-15, 2019 entry plus $250 after Dec. 15 is the
  entry plus $500
● Star of Texas – $500 late fee and can turn down any late entrys

Student Eligibility Date for Shows
East Central (None)
● Bexar County- Must be passing on the Progress Report given
   out on 10/24/2019 Grade Report Can regain on progress reports
   coming out on 11/14/2019 & 12/12/2019

● For Spring Shows you can Gain or Lose eligibility on the report
  card being sent out on January 9th.
● The student can only gain eligibility only on the progress reports
  that will come out on 1/31/2020, 2/21/2020
● You can gain or lose eligibility on the progress report coming out
  on 3/19/2020 and regain on the progress report coming out on
  4/9/2020

YOU MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO SHOW BEFORE YOUR ANIMAL
MOVES IN
Student Eligibility – Days for Students

● A total of 10 days are permitted/year for students to be
  out for all school related activities through school
  sponsored events
● Trail Ride, Open Show and Youth Shows that do not
  require eligibility – will not be excused through our
  program or supported through our department.

  PLAN - PLAN - PLAN your dates! This includes all school
  activities (athletics, UIL, 4-H and FFA. We all pull from the
                           same 10 days)
Fees for Livestock Show Entries

● You will receive 1 exhibitors pass/ students – not per entry.

● San Antonio car passes are needed to be purchased.

●    Houston car passes are done by lottery and can not be
    purchased. ( You must be present at the January Meeting to be
    in the lottery for the Houston car passes. A friend can not pull
    for you).
FYI - We do not have a magic pot of passes that we keep for
  everyone. We order only what is needed. You will need to
  pre-pay for the passes you want. Make sure your entries are
  listed on the summary sheet. If you make a mistake and order a
  pass for a wrong week – we will not have a pass for you to
  exchange.
Additional Livestock Show Requiring
   Agricultural Science Teacher Signature
● If you plan to show at a show requiring our signature.
  Please prepare in advance. We are difficult to find during
  stockshow season. It also takes 1 week to get checks
  requested. Please read the rules carefully and realize that
  if you are requesting to use an extra curricular day – you
  must adhere to the no-pass, no play rules of our school and
  your membership in the FFA must be required for the
  event!

● Mercedes Livestock Show (Deadline Feb. 1st to EC FFA)
Hotels

● You need to make your reservations today for Ft.
    Worth & Houston (provided you want to stay close to
    the grounds).
●   Austin may be in driving distance, if not make your
    reservations.
●   If you need to cancel reservations – make sure you
    don’t forget to do so in time.
●   La Quinta does offer a 15% discount to FFA Members
    and their family
●   Other discounts for members can be found at the
