Christmas 2020 at The Headland We would be delighted to arrange a decorated Christmas tree for your room or suite, if there is space to position it safely. Trees are available at £80 and will be twinkling with lights and decorations when you arrive. Please contact reservations as soon as possible to make arrangements; last orders must be received by 18th of December.

We can’t talk about Christmas 2020 without mentioning Covid-19; please find details below (correct as of 27th November), though it is possible that these will change just before Christmas. All arrangements are subject to change according to any new Covid-19 restrictions. If you live in a tier 3 area you Tier 3 sadly are not allowed to travel out of your area to come and stay with us. We hope to see you again when the travel restrictions allow you to travel. If you live in a tier 2 area we look Tier 2 forward to welcoming you, though please remember you must adhere to your tier 2 restrictions when visiting The Headland (if we are still tier 1). If you live in a tier 1 area we look Tier 1 forward to welcoming you in line with the government guidelines that the hotel is within.
If you have been lucky enough to get married and can remember the pain of doing your wedding table plan…spare our team a thought, as with every new government guideline we need to re-examine the seating plans and timings for all meals. A Christmas Day lunch or New Year’s Eve dinner plan is a challenge in the best of years, let alone with constantly revised social distancing and rule of six amendments! The New Year’s Eve gala buffet cannot take place this year, however we have something rather special in its place. Please do pre-book any dining tables that you require, be that breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner; we would like to accommodate all requests, but if there is no space, we sadly will be unable to seat you.

The day before Christmas Eve WEDNESDAY 23RD DECEMBER 2020 If you are arriving today, relax into the sumptuous surroundings of the Headland and get ready for a spectacular Christmas. The Aqua Club is open 8am to 8pm, and the Spa is open 8am to 8pm. The Terrace and The Deck are open for morning coffee, lunch, and supper. Please don’t forget to make a reservation. Dinner is served in The Samphire from 6pm, accompanied by Steve Harris on guitar. After dinner be enthralled by our magician’s tricks, he will be visiting tables around The Ballroom and Lounges from 8pm.
Christmas Eve THURSDAY 24TH DECEMBER 2020 If you arrived on the 23rd, then enjoy a hearty Cornish breakfast from 7.30am to 10.30am. If you are arriving today make sure you have your presents wrapped. Carrots and “Santa stop here” signs are ready for our younger guests, all in preparation for you know who to visit. Collect after dinner in The Samphire. The Aqua Club is open 8am to 8pm, and the Spa is open 8am to 8pm. The Terrace and The Deck are open for morning coffees, lunch and light bites, and supper.
Christmas cake and Cornish tea marks the afternoon from 2pm – 4pm. Children can meet Father Christmas and write him a letter to post in our magical post box. Renowned global pianist Helen Nash will be playing festive favourites on the piano in the Front Lounge. From 2pm collect your copy of the Headland Christmas quiz at the Concierge Desk. You have until 10pm on Boxing Day to hunt out all the pictures and give your answer sheet back in. 1st prize is a voucher for a rather lovely spa day for two at The Headland! Winter punch greets you before dinner in The Samphire, from 6pm. Simon Latarche entertains with his piano and saxophone duo. Then roll the dice and place your bets with Covid-19 secure casino fun in The Ballroom. (Dress code optional: casino glamour). Perhaps a hot chocolate & mince pie at midnight by the Christmas tree?
Christmas Day FRIDAY 25TH DECEMBER 2020 Santa has been, the carrots are eaten, the presents need unwrapping. Mother Christmas has stayed behind to say hello between 8.30am and 10am in The Ballroom. All children are welcome to come and see if she has a little gift. A Christmas breakfast for one and all in The Samphire starts the day from 7am to 10am. The Aqua Club is open 10am to 6pm. The Terrace is open for festive light bites from 12pm to 5pm, and The Deck is open for post swim coffee and drinks from 10am to 6pm.
A glass of champagne to celebrate just before lunch in The Samphire from 12.30pm to 3pm. The festive feast naturally comes with lots of golden turkey and all the trimmings. Simon Latarche will be playing merry tunes on the piano to accompany Christmas lunch. Hear the Queen’s speech on the big screen at 3pm in The Ballroom. If you have space, sweet treats and festive tea are at hand. A nap, a cup of tea, a snuggle on a comfy sofa, the afternoon is perhaps a time to rest; or for those needing to walk off lunch, a good stride across the beach. Peckish? Then join us for dinner with platters of festive favourites served at your table. A little more, a little less, the choice is yours. The Samphire hosts your evening from 6.30pm.
Boxing Day SATURDAY 26TH DECEMBER 2020 The day at leisure, walk the beaches with wind in your hair and sand on your boots. Christmas treats and festive tea in The Ballroom from 3pm to 5pm Traditional Cornish breakfast in The Samphire from 7.30am to 10.30am. The Aqua Club is open 8am to 8pm, and the Spa is open 8am to 8pm. The Terrace and Deck are open for morning coffee, lunch, and supper.
Join us for an unashamedly extravagant 20’s themed dinner in The Samphire from 6pm. Good times will be celebrated with optimistic and decadent fun. Dress up with us (feathered and fringed dresses or dapper suits warmly welcomed!) and enjoy champagne cocktails and canapés at your table before dinner. An aerial performance artist suspended from the ceiling joins us from 6pm to 8pm in the Front Lounge. An evening with musical delight and foodie enchantment from Chef will round off the Christmas celebrations. It may be your last night, or maybe not, but we want you to have fond memories of new friends, good food and festive warmth. Don’t forget to hand in your Headland picture quiz answer sheet before 10pm tonight.

If you are arriving today make sure you have your best party dress or black-tie tux ready (optional of course), ready for some celebration time.
Spend the day at leisure, enjoying the walks, the beach, perhaps a swim in the Aqua Club, or the sea if you are very brave, or simply relax in the Spa. A Kir Royale cocktail will set the tone before dinner. (Dress code: optional casino glamour) Dinner is served in The Samphire from 6pm with a special three course menu from Chef. New Year’s Eve THURSDAY 31ST DECEMBER 2020 Breakfast goodness in The Samphire starts the day from 7.30am to 10.30am The Aqua Club is open 8am to 6.30pm, and the Spa is open 8am to 6pm. Spend the day at leisure, both The Terrace and The Deck are open for lunch and light bites, or even a cream tea. The coast, the sea, the beach, the Aqua club and Spa, are all on-hand to entertain you. Children’s supper will be served in The Deck from 5pm – 6.30pm (don’t forget to make a booking). We will be dressing up for dinner, with our black tie and most glamourous party dresses; we would love you to join in, but this is optional. Champagne cocktails and canapés will be served to your table before dinner.
Dinner from 7.30pm is a celebration of everything The Headland chefs love to prepare, with the freshest ingredients from the sea, the land and the best Cornwall has to offer. Be assured you will not leave feeling hungry. Entertainment abounds through the evening, with the phenomenal ‘Escala’ performing in The Samphire, as well as ‘Take 2’ guitar and piano; all distanced naturally but sadly no dancing allowed. As we see the clock getting closer to midnight, we hope we will still all be allowed to enjoy the classic midnight countdown - don’t forget to pre-order your champagne, which we will serve to your table or bedroom if obliged to! A big “hurray”, we (hope) to see in the New Year together, albeit in 2020 distanced fashion. Gently to bed, pleasant dreams.
