Wentworth Angling Club host the fishing competition at Fort Courage Caravan Park. Fishing registrations are taken at the office and the cost is $12 for members & $14 for non-members. The price includes a two course meal on the Saturday night with meat trays and raffles to be won. It's a great night out with family and friends so come along and enjoy the fantastic company. Early birds can start at sun up if they have registered prior to this day. Registrations are from 8am on the day and competition ends at 3pm. All fish must be measured before this time. Fishing can be in the Murray from Dareton to Fort Courage and the Darling up to Pomona. A sausage sizzle & presentations are at 3.30pm along with meat raffles. Merchandise is always made available at each competition. Orders can also be taken. Entry fee is $5 members, $7 non- members. Junior are $2 or free for members. This also puts you in the lucky draw prize to win a $50 voucher. Seniors & Juniors 15 & under. Prizes for the biggest Cod, Perch & Carp in both Seniors & Juniors. Fish are measured by length, not weight and must be legal sizes. A $200 mystery cash prize makes the day even more exciting. The Brekkie will be outside in the Barbeque area. Live entertainment is provided. Visitors are required to register their attendance as this is a COVID Safe event. The tractor train will take visitors on a one-hour tour of the Botanic Gardens. The carriages are separate and each carriage can take one family group to ensure social distancing. Children are free on the train if they accompany an adult. 03 5023 3612 23 May, Sunday ST JOHN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH 150TH CELEBRATION Darling Street, Wentworth 9:30am You are invited to join the Anglican Parish of Wentworth in celebrating the sesquicentenary of the Anglican Church of St John the Evangelist. St John’s (1871) was the first church built on the Darling River. The foundation stone was laid by Judge Francis at 3pm on 23rd May 1871. A day of celebration is planned to commence with Morning Prayer at 9.30am. The Makers of Wentworth will conduct a market in the church grounds from 10am featuring local arts and crafts. Food and refreshments will be available from the Wentworth CWA and the Delta Scouts. A historical display in the Church will showcase memorabilia associated with the church and church activities. A commemoration stone will be blessed by the Bishop of Riverina, the Right Reverend Donald Kirk. The day will conclude with a Eucharistic church service commencing at 3pm, which is at the same time of day, 150 years ago, when the foundation stone was laid. Participating businesses will be encouraging drivers to take regular breaks by offering a free cup of tea or coffee to any driver who is more than 100kms away from home. The ‘Free Cuppa’ website, freecuppa.com.au, allows drivers to search for the nearest participating business as well as find useful information on the scheme.
