2020 Pool Memberships & Admission Fees Annual pool memberships go on sale April 1 online and at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, 7700 Mission Road. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note: • Pool memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable. • The Prairie Village Pool does not sell memberships on-site. • New for 2020, children under 2 years old do not require a membership and will be admitted to the pool free of charge. • To purchase pool memberships, all household members over 18 years old may be required to show identification and/or proof of residency (verified by driver’s license, utility bill or credit card bill.) • Daily admission fees and five-swim cards will not be applied to the purchase of a membership. • Five-swim cards are only valid for the season in which they are purchased. • The Prairie Village Pool does not sell family memberships. All members of the family must purchase individual memberships. However, SuperPass upgrades are available at individual or family rates (for up to five family members.) • Business owners with an active administrative/retail license in Prairie Village may purchase memberships at resident rates. • Pool membership cards are required for all pool members. New members must obtain their photo pool membership cards in the City Clerk’s Office. Existing members can use their renewed card or obtain a new one. Cards must be presented upon entering the pool complex by only the person to whom the card is issued. Any violations or “pass backs” of membership ID cards may result in forfeiture of membership privileges for the remainder of the season. With the SuperPass, your annual Prairie Village pool membership will allow you unlimited access to the following partnering pools: Fairway, Leawood, Mission, and Roeland Park. To be eligible for a SuperPass upgrade, you must first purchase a Prairie Village Pool membership for each interested family member. Pool Rentals Those interested may rent the Leisure Pool, Slide Pool, and Diving Well as a package any available evening June 1 to July 31, subject to available staffing. Parties may be held from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. after the pool closes to the public. The rental fee is $350. A Swim & Dive Teams quatics Programs Swim and dive teams are open to youth ages 6 to 18. The aquatics team season begins Wednesday, May 27. The last day to register is Friday, May 8. A pre-season team orientation will be held in the Prairie Village City Council Chambers Monday, May 11 at 6 p.m. All team members should plan to attend. Aquatic Team Registration Fees Important Dates Resident $110 Last day to register: May 8 Resident, second child on team $105 Team orientation: May 11 Non-resident with Prairie Village Pool Membership* $115 New member eval: May 16 Non-resident without Prairie Village Pool Membership* $165 All City Meet: July 15 Team registration includes: • T-shirt and swim cap • Friday Fun Days during designated practices • Personal and group curriculum and assessments • Team awards banquet • Access to private and semi-private instruction after practice (at an additional charge) *Prairie Village is a member of the Johnson County Swim and Dive League (JCSDL). JCSDL Bylaws state that individuals must compete for the city in which they reside, if that city has a JCSDL member team. Exceptions are 1) the participant lives closer to the Prairie Village pool than they pool in their residential city or 2) the participant competed on the Prairie Village team for the last two consecutive seasons. (These rules affect residents of Fairway, Lenexa, Prairie Village, Overland Park, Shawnee, Merriam, Roeland Park, and Olathe.) Lessons are taught in a semi-private format, and are intended to aid in skill and technique development. Lessons are purchased in packages of five 30-minute lessons for $45. Lessons for aquatics team members are held Monday-Friday between 10:30 a.m. to noon. The day and time of lessons must be pre-arranged between the team member and coach. New Team Member Evaluation An evaluation to determine placement on the competitive or pre-competitive team for new team members will be May 16 from 1 p.m.to 2 p.m. at the Shaw- nee Mission East Pool Complex. Aquatic Program Refunds Team fees, including fees for lessons not taken are refund- able up to one week after team practice begins minus a $15 administrative fee.
T ennis Programs Kansas City Junior Tennis League Prairie Village is a member of the Kansas City Junior Tennis League (KCJTL). In this program, youth ages 8-18 develop, improve, and refine their tennis skills. The League consists of weekly clinics, challenge days, weekly team matches, and an end-of-year tournament. JTL Fees Important Dates $105 per participant Last day to register: May 13 $100 per additional child on team League Play: June 1 - July 9 End-of-year tournament: July13-17 Cardio Tennis Taught by a professional tennis teacher, cardio tennis is a group activity for all ages featuring drills for players of all abilities. Classes include warm-up, cardio workout, and cool down phases. Sessions will be held from 8-9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Harmon Park. Register online at www.pvkansas.com or at City Hall, 7700 Mission Road. Cardio Tennis Details Session 1 – June 2-18 Session 2 – June 23 - July 9 $90 per session. There are six 50-minute lessons per session. Private & Semi-Private Lessons Lessons are available Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The day and time of the lessons must be pre-arranged between the player and tennis pro. Lessons should be booked in advance at City Hall, 7700 Mission Road. Private Lessons allow instructors the opportunity to work with players on individual needs. The fee is $25 per person for a 30-minute lesson. Semi-Private Lessons for two persons are structured to meet individual needs. The fee is $20 per person for a 30-minute lesson. Three and a Pro is a program for youth. You bring two friends and play with the pro. The cost is $20 per player for 60 minutes. S kateboarding Skateboarding classes will not be offered in Prairie Village this summer as the skate park at Harmon Park is scheduled for reconstruction. R ecreation Program Fee Assistance Scholarships are available to qualified Prairie Village residents for pool mem- berships and team fees. Scholarships are available to adults and all children liv- ing in the household. All scholarships applicants will be required to provide the City with their previous year’s federal tax return as part of the application. P rograms Offered by Other Organizations JCPRD Programs Register online at www.jcprd.com JCPRD Swim Lessons Swim lessons for non-swim team participants are provided at the Prairie Village Pool by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD). You do not need to be a member of the Prairie Village Pool to take swimming lessons through Johnson County Parks and Recreation. Lessons are offered Monday through Thursday with Friday as a make-up day. Registration for lessons and programs will be taken through JCPRD, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is also available by phone at 913- 831-3359 between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about JCPRD programs, visit their website at www.jcprd.com. JCPRD Tennis Lessons JCPRD offers group tennis lessons for kids ages 5-8, 9-12, and 11-14 at Harmon Park in Prairie Village. Lessons begin June 2 and are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The soccer experts at Challenger Sports and child devel- opment experts have designed an innovative curriculum that in- troduces young players to the basic skills needed in soccer as well as developing motor, social, and psychological skills. Thursday mornings; April 2 - May 7 Taliaferro Park $90 Tiny Tykes Cubs - ages 2-3; 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. TinyTykes Lions - ages 4-5; 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. International Soccer Camp International Soccer Camp provides players of all abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Chal- lenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. P arks, Facilities & Reservations Park Pavilions Pavilions in City parks may be reserved throughout the year for use between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Pavilions are available in Franklin, Park Locations Harmon, Taliaferro, Porter, Wassmer, Weltner, Windsor, and Ben- (Hours 7 a.m. - 11 p.m.) nett Parks, as well as the Santa Fe Pavilion in Harmon Park. The fee for most pavilion reservations is $8 per hour for Prairie Village Bennett Park - 77th Street & Rosewood Drive residents and $15 per hour for non-residents. Brenizer Park - Tomahawk Road & Prairie Lane Santa Fe Pavilion and Franklin Park Pavilion are each split in half Franklin Park - Somerset Drive & Roe Avenue for facility rentals. However, they can also be reserved in whole. The fee for these reservations is $12 per hour for Prairie Village Harmon Park - 77th Place & Delmar Street residents and $22.50 per hour for non-residents. Check pavilion McCrum Park - 69th Terrace & Roe Avenue availability and reserve online pvkansas.com. Reservations can also be made in person at City Hall. Meadowbrook Park - 9101 Nall Avenue * Ball Fields Porter Park - Tomahawk Road & Roe Avenue Ball fields are first come, first serve for the public and are also Santa Fe Trail Park - 7727 Delmar Street available for reservation. Written requests to reserve ball fields must be filed with the City Clerk’s office prior to the date of use. Schliffke Park - 6845 Mission Road Applications are available at City Hall. The City Clerk accepts Shaffer Park - Tomahawk Road & Mission Road team applications for the spring and summer in January and for the fall season in August. Taliaferro Park - 2900 W. 79th Street Tennis Courts Wassmer Park - 67th Street & Roe Avenue Tennis courts are first come, first serve for the public, and are also Weltner Park - 78th Street & State Line Road available for reservation. If you would like to hold a tournament, Windsor Park - 71st Terrace & Windsor Street or reserve a court, stop by the City Clerk’s Office inside City Hall.
