Day 2 – Monday Full Irish Breakfast at your Hotel Golf: Royal County Down Royal County Down Royal County Down is located in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve. Against the magnificent backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne, it provides a different vista from virtually every hole. The narrowest ribbons of fairways thread their way through impressive sand dunes. The fairways are surrounded by purple heather and golden gorse, so beautiful but so punishing for any who may stray from the path. The ‘bearded’ bunkers are world famous and feature overhanging lips of marram, red fescue and heather. The greens are fast and many are domed, rejecting any shot lacking conviction. This is a true test of any player’s command of the traditional bump and run, the preferred way to play any links. Day 2 contd../ Depart County Down after your round of golf and continue onto Bushmills, Co Antrim (2 hours) Overnight Busmills Inn Hotel 4* Bushmills Inn Hotel is a former Coaching Inn dating back to the 1600’s and is one of Ireland’s most well known, luxurious four-star hotels. It is situated in an enviable location a stone’s throw from a host of visitor attractions including Royal Portrush Golf Club, Old Bushmills Distillery, The Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Roaring peat fires, nooks and crannies and a secret library set the tone. The accommodation comprises of 41 sumptuous guest rooms and suites, many with views. Amenities include Free Wi-Fi, Treatment Room offering massage treatments, a private 30 seater cinema, a heli-pad, a patio for Al fresco dining and an acre of private lawns sweeping down to the River Bush. Traditional Irish music can be heard on Saturday nights.
Day 3 – Tuesday Full Irish Breakfast at Hotel Golf: Royal Portrush : Dunluce Course Royal Portrush : Dunluce Course The Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush Golf Club ranks amongst the world’s greatest courses. Unimaginable rough and testing greens, combined with the unpredictable weather of the roaring North Atlantic make this course an admirable test for even the most seasoned golfer. The 6867 yard course, which has been extended to just under 7200 yards, is routed through rugged links land, and constantly changes in both direction and elevation, whilst providing some of the most awe-inspiring scenery to be found in Ireland. Huge dunes are complemented by stunning views across the bay to the Donegal hills. Every shot in the bag will be tested! This is a true links course with fast greens in excellent condition all the year round. Portstewart played host as a qualifying venue in the 1951 British Open and has held all the major amateur national Championships. It is an uncontested opinion that Portstewart has the best opening hole in Irish Golf. Overnight at The Bushmills Inn Hotel 4*
Day 6 – Friday Golf: Castlerock Transport: Car Hire Castlerock Situated on the Causeway Coast and only a 20 minute drive from both Royal Portrush and Royal Portstewart, Castlerock Golf Club is a classic Links Course set amidst towering dunes. Founded in April 1901, Castlerock is rated as one of Ireland’s finest links courses and will test every department of your game. The 200 yard par three signature 4th hole, called "Leg o' Mutton", requires a tee shot struck over a burn, with a railway track lurking to the right. Great courses offer great closing holes and the short par four 18th at Castlerock is no different. Even with a good drive on this slight dogleg, due to the contours of the fairway, you are often left with a relatively blind approach to a tricky plateau green.
