Season 2018 – 2019

Competitive Team Try Outs

Spotlight Cheer and Dance are looking forward to our fifth competitive season; we are now
recruiting for more competitive Cheerleaders and dancers for our season 2018-19. In order to gain a
place in the team, try outs will take place as the children will be carefully selected based entirely on
their current skills. If your child gains a place on the team they are expected to be dedicated and
attend every training session possible. I ask you to read through the following documents and be
very sure this is for you before signing up. By trying out you are telling me you want to take your
dace/cheer to the next level and you are willing to work hard the whole season through.

The rules and codes of conduct are in place to protect us as a programme but also all the children
within the teams.

Try outs will take place 2nd June 2018 at the studio from 9-2pm. Try out cost £6 should be paid in
cash when returning your child’s signed form. Your child will not be allowed to try out unless correct
form is signed and payment is made by 1st June.

Children may try out to compete in more than one team this must be clearly stated on from. Please
be aware if trying out for two or more teams that there will be additional entry fee for comps and
additional costs for training.

Try out results will be emailed out on the 11th June, you will then have one week to confirm if your
child is accepting there place. Team placing is final and is not open for discussion.

The children currently in the competitive teams have a brilliant time at the competitions. It is a
fantastic way for the children to develop their skills and build confidence within the sport. It takes a
lot of hard work and dedication but i believe it is so rewarding for the children to compete against
other teams around the country.

Any other questions or information required feel free to get in touch.

Thank you

Season 2018 – 2019

                                              What to Expect

   1. You will have to be able to commit up to 2 hour practice a week for Cheer and 1 hour
      practice a week for Crew.

      optional classes during holiday breaks.

   4. This will be highly competitive to gain a place on the team therefore if you know your child
will not handle rejection well please have a think about whether it is a good idea for them to
      try out.

   5. If children fail to turn up to practice without a valid reason they put there place on the team
in jeopardy. We need full teams to every practice or it affects every member.

   6. A new uniform will need to be purchased if your child gains a place on the team.

Cheer - trainers (around £30) and bow (£10-15). The uniform will cost £85. This will be due
to be paid by 1st August. (Same uniform as last season).
Crew – Dance uniform/trainers will be confirmed August time and cost around £50.

   7. Red Zone- is two week prior to competition every child must be in full attendance, if a
session is missed during this time the athlete will be withdrawn for that competition.

   8. If your child is going to be absent from a session please provide valid reason 24 hours prior
to training session, i understand this is not always possible but as much notice allows
training sessions to be re planned and not wasted.

   9. 3 unexplained/no show/unreasonable excuses from one athletes results in a competition
      ban.

   10. Buses to competitions will only run when feasible, this will depend on numbers. However
you are expected to be able to get your child to and from the competitions. There is no
       supervision provided during these days.

                                             Social Media Policy

This policy has been developed to inform you about using social media so people feel enabled to
participate, while being mindful of their responsibilities and obligations. In particular, this policy
provides practical guidance allowing all parties to benefit from the use of social media, while
minimising potential risks and protecting those involved.

Spotlight Cheer and Dance understand everyone involved in the club must recognise that the
responsibility to safeguard exists both at home and in the studio. Coaches, volunteers and Parents
need to act responsibly and this includes the use of electronic communications. Clubs and
organisations that set up websites have a responsibility to ensure safeguards are in place. Coaches,

about the club or anyone associated with the club, do not respond to the post and contact Katie
Black directly as the Clubs Owner.

   Parent Guidance:

communication about club activities/issues often means that concerns are picked up early and
issues can be resolved more easily

set so many deadlines and worry about missing entry fee dates. If you wish to pay it all off in
September you are more than welcome to do this. I will provide payment cards and stamp each one
once payment is received monthly as proof of payment.

Most competitions provide breakdowns on their individual sites if you Google the event producers,
you can also find spectator prices too. However, I will still do spectator tickets orders throughout the
                                               year.
