I am grateful that we have been able to get to know each other a bit better. Throughout this year, you have been bright lights as we’ve sojourned through some dark places, always trusting that God is leading us through this pandemic and into new possibilities. Thank you for making the end of 2021 rich with blessings. You deeply blessed me by sharing your generosity through greetings, cards, notes, tasty morsels, and other gifts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and Russ’ too!
Epiphany is the 12th day of Christmas, the day we celebrate the sharing of Jesus - the Light of the World - with the whole world. The following season of Epiphany comes during the darkest (and coldest) days of the year. It’s a time when we tend to hibernate and it’s easy to feel a bit cut off from the rest of the world. Guided by the Corinthian epistles, our new worship series “Love Never Ends: The Body of Christ,” is an invitation to let the light shine around us, in us, and then from us into our community by letting others see Christ through our loving presence. This series begins January 9. As we begin a new year of ministry together as the body of Christ, I invite you to bring the power of prayer into 2022. One of my favorites is a prayer John Wesley adapted for the renewal of the believer's covenant with God. Wesley said that the prayer was first used in a covenant renewal service held on Monday, August 11, 1755, in London, with 1800 people present. Since then, this payer has often been used in Methodist services around the world on the first Sunday of the year. We’ll share it together on January 2. The prayer points to deep surrender of ourselves in complete trust to God. At first use, the words of the prayer can be jarring. I invite you to pray these words until they resonate in the fibers of your soul. I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low for thee. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen. It is with much joy and anticipation that I look forward to the possibilities that await us in 2022! May the fullness of God’s grace be upon you in this new beginning, Peace and love, Pastor Trudy

Some words of thanks from Rev. Bev First I would like to echo Trudy's words of gratitude. From my heart, and from my family, too, THANK YOU for making the end of 2021 rich with blessings--cards, notes, treats and other gifts. Thank you so much for all of the dear Christmas greetings and remembrances. It is a tremendous blessing to be in ministry with you. What a year of growth and changes it has been! We've adapted to new schedules, felt the loss of beloved friends and traditions, and created new traditions along the way. I want to thank this brave and loving congregation for all the ways you have undergirded our "Growing in Faith Together" GIFT program in prayer. I want to thank you for your honest feedback and for all the ways you have stepped up to offer improvements, encouragement, and people power. (Please keep the feedback coming; your insights help us grow). I want to thank you for your generous financial contributions. God is at work in our church family, bringing generations together in new and creative ways, bringing laughter and new gifts of patience and understanding along the way. Our first full semester of weekly GIFT programming is in the books, as they say. To review what we did in pictures, check out our church "Growing in Faith Together" Facebook page. You can find it here: https://www.facebook.com/ westheightsumc.org/.
And now, a very incomplete attempt to thank *some* of the many people who have showered our families, youth, and children with love this year: Nancy Wilhite, Joey Bamberger, Connie and Curtis Wilson, Terry and Dave Glover, Ramona Myers, Jan Scott, Edna Young, Julie Marsh, Mary and Jim Robillard, Doris Fry and Constance Wray, Cynda Carr, Mindy Fresh, Kalei Fresh, Jacob McCarty, Marsha Bunting, Jennifer Mark, Grace and Andrew Hauff, Kate Stolz, Tony Bamberger, JD Patton, Joel Ewy, Bonnie Turvey, the list goes on! I'm sure I will forget someone, but I will set that aright in a future note. THANK YOU all! Along with many others you've shown up in so many thoughtful ways, sharing your expertise, your time, your financial resources, your hard work, your faith. As we say at the end of Wednesday evenings, "May God bless you and make you a blessing!" You all are blessings. Thank you again for sharing your gifts with our children, families, and youth! Weekly GIFT programming resumes January 12, 2022
