JANUARY 2022 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed, or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-15 Happy New Year! 2022 has just begun with the year ahead holding much promise for great days to come. Perhaps you hope the new year will bring you employment, a baby, a new home, retirement, a great love in your life, better health, etc., etc. This is a time of high hopes and dreams. How many times, though in years past, aren’t we already disappointed by February 1st? How often the high hopes and dreams we had on January 1st have already been dashed with discouragement setting in thirty days later. How do we cope with these disappointments? We learn from Paul who wrote the verses listed above….we learn to be content in all circumstances. When we still don’t have that dream job, or we have more bills than dollars, we can be content. When our hopes of better health are dashed with one test result, when the love of our life betrays us or when a storm ravages our home, we can be
content. How is this possible? We can be content because we know that no matter what, Jesus is still our Savior. He was still born in that stable, still suffered and died on the cross and still rose again early one morning, just for us. No matter what year the calendar says, or how many joys or disappointments the new year may bring, this fact will never change…you are loved, you are saved, you have eternal life through Jesus Christ! May 2022 bring you the contentment that only God can give you and may you feel His very real presence and peace in your life, this year and always. School Open House: We will be completing National Lutheran Schools week with an open house for all new and/or current families on Sunday, January 30th beginning at noon and ending at 2:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet with the teachers, tour the school, find out about all the great things that are happening at St. Peter and enroll your children or grandchildren for the 2022- 2023 school year. If you, or any friends or neighbors are interested in a Christian education for your children, please stop by during this open house. Please share this information with others who might be interested. National Lutheran Schools Week: We will be celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week with other Lutheran Schools across the world the week of January 23rd – 29th. The theme this year is "In All Things" based on Colossians 1:15-20. The children will be dong many different activities that week to celebrate Lutheran Schools including art, sledding, fun dress themes, and more. We are grateful for the support from our families past and present, for the opportunity to offer a Christian Education to the community.
Science Fair: The 7th and 8th graders presented their Science Fair projects earlier this month. They have been working on these since early in the school year. Congratulations to the students for all of their hard work. We would love you to join us in worship. St. Peter is IN-PERSON at all weekend worship services: Saturday @ 5pm, and Sunday @ 7:45am, 9am and 11am services. You can view LIVE STREAM worship services on the homepage of our website. Ash Wednesday is March 2nd. Join your St. Peter family as we begin the season of Lent. Mid-week services will be every Wednesday, March 2nd through April 6th at 12:15 & 7pm plus soup suppers will be served from 5:30- 6:45pm. This weekend Pastor Hintz will lead worship. Ever heard a speech, lecture or sermon that literally moved you to action? The power of the spoken word is amazing whether it is used for good or evil. Jesus of course brought good news and yet, some that heard it thought it to be evil. Come gather and hear for yourself and receive the freedom that you so desire! The readings for this weekend are: Nehemiah 8:1-3, 5-6, 8-10, 1 Corinthians 12:12-31a, and Luke 4:16-30.
Trivia Night: Gather your friends and other alumni to participate in St. Peter’s annual Trivia Night. This fun event will take place on February 5th from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. in the school gym. The cost is $10/person. Gather enough people to fill a table and decide on your theme for the evening. Restaurant Night Out: Join St. Peter families and other alumni for a restaurant night out on February 21st at Pilot Pete's, 905 W Irving Park Rd, Schaumburg from 4-9pm. A percentage of the sales will be given to the St. Peter PTL. Be sure to take the flyer with you, they can be printed at stpeterlcms.org/rno. Wildcat Round-Up: St. Peter’s annual Wildcat Round Up will take place on February 25th and 26th. Put this on your calendar and plan to attend to help cheer on our Wildcats! A schedule of games will be posted on the Alumni Facebook page and on the St. Peter website.
Alumni Basketball Game: The third annual alumni Wildcat Game will take place on Saturday, February 26th at 7pm. We are looking for at least 10 St. Peter Alumni to take part in this game. This alumni game will be the last game of the Wildcat Round-Up Weekend. We will provide a t-shirt for each alumni. Please click here to sign up for the game. Even if you don’t want to play, come watch and cheer on your Wildcats! Class of 1997: This summer you will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of your St. Peter graduation.
