Hi Lane Cove West Parents and Students,
It is Eli here.. I would like to share some information about a fundraiser I am working on at the moment. As
you know, I was trained as a guide dog through Guide Dogs Australia, now I work at your school as a therapy
dog. PAWGUST is coming up in the month of August and I am hoping lots of you and your own dogs can join
me to do some walking and fundraising for my friends at Guide Dogs Australia.
PAWGUST is a fundraiser that encourages people and their pooches to brave the cold and walk or run at least
30 minutes every day in August to raise funds for Guide Dogs. The funds you raise during PAWGUST will go
towards helping breed, raise and train Guide Dogs so that we can create a world where everyone who needs
a Guide Dog, has a Guide Dog. It costs in excess of $50,000 to breed, raise and train just one Guide Dog puppy
like me and with hundreds being trained each year, every dollar raised throughout PAWGUST
counts. PAWGUST participants (and their dog/s) will experience physical and mental health benefits from the
challenge - leading to happier, healthier lives.
If you would like to get involved, scan the QR code below or follow the weblink! Looking forward to seeing
lots of walkers in PAWGUST!
Eli

An ode to the School Crossing Supervisors

For keeping our kids safe, no matter the weather.
For keeping an eye on those drivers not paying attention –
who illegally U-turn, use their mobile phones, and speed.
For explaining that the dangerous habit of illegally stopping puts us all at risk.
We thank you!

Top Tips to help your Crossing Supervisor

• Approach the crossing slowly.
• Wait for the Crossing
    Supervisor’s instruction.
• Say thank you.
• Push a bike or scooter
    across the crossing.
• Pay attention – put balls,
    phones, toys away while
    you cross.

If you are driving in a school zone, no
matter what time of day, think about the
children that are around and slow down.
