Children’s Program For Children Ages Birth to 5th Grade Sign up the kids for a summer of fun at CCPL! The Tails & Tales theme is provided by the Col- laborative Summer Reading Program. Programs are suitable for all ages! Special Programs Craft Days Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. @ CCPL June 1 Bobby Norfolk: Animal Storytelling Kickoff June 3 Paper Plate Stingray & Fishing For a Tale Join us at CCPL behind the library for a special program Make your very own paper plate Stingray and go fish- for the whole family! June 24 Pokemon Scavenger Hunt and DIY Paper Plate Pokeball Craft June 15 Fossil Dig Make your own paper plate pokeball and then go on a Behind the Library scavenger hunt throughout the library and “capture” This enrichment activity will definitely get kids dirty Pokémon that will be hiding. but they will have a blast hunting for fossils and learn- ing about pre-historic animals. Special thanks to the Ben C. Clement Mineral Museum for donating real fossils and digging kits! Pre-School Summer Reading Program June 22 Pet Parade and Read to a Shelter Pet Grab & Go packets are available for children between Marion City-County Park birth and preschool age each week in June. Ask for one Reading to pets is a great way to practice literacy skills! Bring your stuffed animals to the park to walk around at the desk when you register. You may also want to sign the track in the library pet parade! Teen Program For Tweens and Teens 6th Grade through Age 17 Events will be held in the month of July but the reading challenge begins June 1st! July 6th @ 2:30 pm Pokemon Go Scavenger Hunt at the Marion City-County Park Is Pokemon Go your thing? Come help us hunt down the Pokemon hanging around the park! Bring your phone and your sense of ad- venture. We’ll meet at the shelter by the skate park. July 13th @ 2:30 pm Learn How to Play D&D Outside Behind the Library- Attend this program to create your Dungeons & Dragons character, roll the dice for your point totals, and play a scenario with Ms. Melissa and Mrs. Brandie behind the library. Snacks provided. July 20th @ 2:30 pm Manga Drawing Program and Anime Movie in the Meeting Room (10 max teens) If you love the Japanese artform of manga and anime, join Ms. Melissa for a program where YOU create your own story, then watch a popular anime movie complete with pre-packaged popcorn and drinks. July 27th 3D Printer Digital Escape Room in the Meeting Room (10 max teens) Today we’re locking you in the meeting room and you have to figure out how to escape using clues printed on the library 3D printer. Reading Challenge The CCPL Teen Reading Challenge is easy. Track the books you’ve read (print or eBooks) and audio- books you’ve listened to for a chance to win prizes. 1st Place — My Hero Academia Collector’s Box Set 2nd Place — Pokemon Card Set 3rd Place — Gift Card to Local Business Adult Summer Reading Program For Adults Age 18 & Up Summer reading is for adults too! If you are a kid at heart age 18 and over, register for the 2021 Tails & Tales summer reading program. Get your reading log at the library and start tracking books and audiobooks. Return to CCPL by August 31st at 5:00 p.m. for a chance to win gift cards to local businesses provided by the Friends of the Library. Get stranded on Library Island and fill your beach bag with great reads all summer long!
