Lighthouse Point Library “Express Book Browsing” Library card services, program registration, cash payments, photocopier/scanner, fax machine, patron WIFI, and Ask-A-Librarian NOW OPEN 10:00am – 2:00pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and 10:00pm – 6:00pm Tuesday and Thursday Phone lines and next business day curbside take-out is available Mon, Wed, Friday 10am-4pm and Tues, Thurs, 10am to 6pm. Residents may request a curbside pickup time of 6pm-8pm on Tuesdays. Please contact the Library for details. During your visit… A facial mask (covering both nose and mouth) is required for all unvaccinated individuals at all times. Social distancing is required between household groups. Visits are limited to 60-minutes per patron, per-day. When 75% maximum Library capacity is reached, entry becomes “one out, one in”. Returned library materials must be placed in the outdoor drop box before entering the building. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to safely reopen services… During this phase of reopening the following services are not yet available: Patron computers, printers, meeting/study rooms, puzzles, and print newspapers/magazines. Additionally the Friends are not accepting donations of books or materials. All City offices including the Library will be closed on Monday, September 6 (Labor Day). All Ages Programs for all ages are self-paced and no registration is required. All Storywalk® Ages Available August and part of September. No Registration required. StoryWalk® is an innovative way for children and adults to enjoy picture books, reading, the outdoors, and exercise all at the same time! The Lighthouse Point Library’s StoryWalk® follows a sand trail in De Groff Park at NE 52 Street in Lighthouse Point. Daylight hours. Parking is limited. Wear comfy “sand friendly” shoes. Don’t forget to check out the back of the StoryWalk® panels for Library photos, facts, and details on how Lighthouse Point households can get a FREE copy of the book from the Friends. The summer StoryWalk® title is Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt by Kate Messner (who is a featured guest during a Page Turner Adventures session). All DIY Games Ages Grab and go available each week in August. No Registration required. Great for families and all ages! Each week a new DIY Game template will be available in front of the library for grab and go fun. Games include ring toss, checkers, dominos, match cards and more! Supported by the City of Lighthouse Point. All Family Craft Kits Ages Grab and go. Available each week in August. No Registration required. Back by popular demand! Stop by for FREE weekly Family Craft Kit surprises! Family Craft Kits will rotate weekly. No registration required. Available for Grab and Go in front of the library during Curbside takeout hours. Since supplies are limited, please only take enough for your household. All Scavenger Hunt Ages Grab and go. Available in August. No Registration required. In August stop by the Library for an all-ages self- paced scavenger hunt! Decode puzzles and clues to solve the mystery! Win a prize for sending in a photo of you and your solved puzzle! An active Lighthouse Point Library card is required to register. Registration required. to 6 years This national program promotes the practice of reading BEFORE a child sets foot in kindergarten. New registered participants receive their first starfish reading record and a free book from the Friends of the Library. Each time you and your child read a book (any book and yes you can repeat books) your child will color-in a starfish on the reading record. When your child has colored in all 100 starfish, they have read 100 books! Each time they read 100 books they receive a new record, a certificate, and a special treat from the Friends! Ages Storytime with Storyline® Newborn Available Aug 02 – Sept 30. Registration required for weekly take homes to 6 years The Lighthouse Point Library has partnered with Storyline Online® for weekly online storytime fun! Visit lighthousepointlibrary.com Programs Youth, for videos featuring celebrated actors reading popular children’s books. Registered participants will receive weekly activity sheets and/or crafts for their home enjoyment. Adults Register online at lighthousepointlibrary.com Programs. Adult. Ages Friends Zoom Book Club (Online) 18 and over August 18, 2021 Friends Zoom Book Club at 3:00pm Registration Required Have you seen Luis Velez? by Catherine Ryan Hyde Raymond Jaffe feels like he doesn’t belong. Not with his mother’s new family. Not as a weekend guest with his father and his father’s wife. Not at school, where he’s an outcast. After his best friend moves away, Raymond has only two real connections: To the feral cat he’s tamed and to a blind ninety-two-year-old woman in his building who’s introduced herself with a curious question: Have you seen Luis Velez? Mildred Gutermann, a German Jew who narrowly escaped the Holocaust, has been alone since her caretaker disappeared. She turns to Raymond for help, and as he tries to track Luis down, a deep and unexpected friendship blossoms between the two.
LHP Seniors Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funded programs are only open to Lighthouse Point residents ages 62 and over. For information on how to enroll and register in a CDBG program call the library during business hours 954-946-6398 Proof of City residency, age, and signed enrollment forms in the CDBG program are required BEFORE attending any class. Participants will receive a FREE print copy of the monthly book club title and/or watercolor materials (provided by CDBG). The Barker Library fund supports circulating eBook copies. Participation in the monthly program is a requirement of CDBG funding. Individuals who enroll in the program but do not attend the monthly session are not eligible for a FREE copy of the following month's book or supplies. Space is limited. One time registration is on a first come basis. CDBG Zoom Book Club Ages 62 and over (Online) who are Lighthouse Point residents August 25, 2021 CDBG Zoom Book Club at 3:00pm The Midnight Library by Matt Haig Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. CDBG Zoom 101 Ages 62 and over who are Lighthouse Point residents In-Person Class. Registration required. Participants will register for and attend ONE date and time only. Friday, August 13 Class Times: 10:00AM, 11:00AM, 3:00PM, or 4:00PM. Class length is approx. 30 minutes. Moved to new day and time for August. This in-person class will cover the Zoom participant functions required to attend online meetings. Please bring your fully charged device with all passwords required to download the Zoom App. Course is offered to ONE household at a time. Since indoor social distancing can NOT be maintained, a face mask covering the nose and mouth are required for the instructor and all participants. CDBG Zoom Watercolor Class Ages 62 and over who are Lighthouse Point residents Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:30am Moved to new day and time for August.
