The audience stirred when a passage that is familiar to many began, and we listened with appreciation to a glorious melody and rich chords that filled the large room. I had taught the soloist a few short years back and got a little bit misty-eyed to hear him play with skill and understanding. The next day, on the way home, I brought up a topic of conversation that has been addressed by my husband and me before: how does the mysterious process known as creation work?
