Education News ❖ VBS UPDATE FOR 2019: At this point we are in need of VBS teachers. They are unsure of dates as they are trying to pin down teachers and helpers first. If you are interested, please let Rachelle Borah know immediately. If we do not have enough helpers sign up from each church, there will be no Community VBS this year. ❖ We are working on completing the work on our Memory Garden outside the Education unit. We still have some rock to purchase and fill in the area as well as some pavers to purchase and put in the area. Riley Johnson & Payton Borah designed a bench with guidance from Bridget Twedt in Advanced Ag Metal . Sioux Corp has graciously offered to powder coated the bench so hopefully we have a bench that will weather well through the seasons. The garden is in memory of Jennifer Ellingson who dedicated her time as a Sunday School teacher all the years her boys attended, and Carter Engbarth his smile, laugh & stories of farming are so missed! We apologize for the mess that ensued during the redoing. ❖ Parents of kids that will be entering into 9th grade in 2021 or graduating in 2021 please chat with your child to see if they are interested in attending the ELCA National Youth Gathering. The Gathering will take place in Minneapolis June 30th-July 3rd. We will have a meeting about the gathering and the start of fundraising and planning in October. The expense is generally $1200.00/person. We were successful in raising nearly all the funds for each student for the last gathering. I request that your child be in regular attendance of LYO on Wednesdays, participate in worship on a regular basis as well as help with all fundraising events. ❖ Parents please consider giving your time to our Sunday School this Fall. We were unable to get enough people to commit to teaching this past year and it was not an ideal situation. My goal is always to try to get at least 2 people per class to commit so no one has to commit to every single Sunday through the Sunday School year. I am also hoping for some high school students to assist as there are a few classes that are bigger which makes for busier kiddos and an extra teacher helps keep distraction to a minimum. If you are interested in helping please contact Rachelle Borah 605-940-4496.
