Professors are approachable ● You will be in larger classes, often with less interaction with the instructor ○ Want to follow up on a concept from class? ○ Trouble understanding the material or how you were graded? ● Email your professor to set up a virtual appointment or participate in their virtual drop in sessions ○ Be courteous and respectful. Declaring a Minor(s) ● You will get to explore a supplemental area of study through your elective courses. ● Minors consist of SIX Single semester courses ○ Some courses found on the Minors Tables, like Finance or Professional Communication, have courses Direct Entry Students are exempt from. Contact your Advisor to learn more ● The list of minors and their policies is your minors guide ● You declare your Minor(s) when you submit your application to graduate 9
Key Ryerson Policies ● Policy #157: Establishment of Student E-mail Accounts for Official University Communication Do not use Gmail, Hotmail, etc. Use your Ryerson Email: username@ryerson.ca Reasons : 1. We don’t know if it’s really you. 2. It could be filtered by Ryerson; and you think you communicated but you didn’t. 3. Ryerson has an official record of communication. 10
Enrolling In Courses – General Information ● Full-time Direct Entry Students ● Can choose DAY TIME courses starting on August 10, 2021 ● Can choose evening courses through the Chang School ● Part-time Direct Entry Students ● Can choose evening courses through the Chang School ● Can choose DAY TIME courses starting on August 23rd, 2021 ● Limited to a maximum of 3 courses per term, in total (No exception) ● Make changes to your schedule from August 10 to September 17 ● September 17th is the last day to add or swap classes ○ Note: Students taking Chang School classes must view the Chang 11 School important dates.

We will utilize this to build a schedule for you for WINTER 2022: between Monday, August 23 to Friday, September 17 (Opens 6:00 a.m and closes at 11:59 p.m.) ○ Absolute best way to get most courses you want in the Winter! We cannot guarantee your schedule but will work with you. 12
Dates You Need to Know ● Pay attention to how you are doing in your classes! ○ You can drop a course without academic penalty. Last Day to Drop a Fall Course (No Refund of Fees & no academic penalty) is Friday, November 19th, 2021 ● Last Day to Pay Fall Undergraduate Tuition Fees ○ Friday, September 17th, 2021 ● Last day to Drop a Course In Drop Period for a Full Refund ○ Friday, September 17th, 2021 ● Final Exam schedule: ○ Schedule plans for the break AFTER the exam schedule comes out in early November ● For other significant dates consult: ○ https://www.ryerson.ca/calendar/2021-2022/dates/ ○ Student Guide http://www.ryerson.ca/studentguide ○ Taking Courses through the Chang School? Policy #46: Academic Standing Clear: Maintain a C- average i.e. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 1.67 Probationary: If CGPA goes below 1.67 you stay on probation and must sign a new probation contract (limited course load) and attend a mandatory seminar at the start of each term until you bring your CGPA back over 1.67 Required to Withdraw (RTW for 12 months): If your Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) goes below 1.67 while on probation or if CGPA goes below 1.00 at any time. Permanent Program Withdrawal: If you are RTW for a second time or fail a mandatory program course 3 times. Your standing can be found on RAMSS with your grades/academic record 15
