Welcome to St. Joseph Montessori School Summer Learning Camp. Every summer, we take our core Montessori beliefs, stir in some sunshine, and add a splash of water to create an excellent summer learning opportunity for your child. Our Summer Learning Camp is filled with fun and exciting experiences that teach values, develop character, build self-confidence, and explore creativity. Our classes are taught by qualified teachers, staff, and professionals in a safe and friendly environment. All of our camp instructors this year are permanent, Montessori-certified SJMS teachers. Our camp features age-appropriate programs with something for everyone, from the inquisitive preschooler to the most discerning adolescent. Each year we introduce new weekly themes to the mix of traditional programs. We hope you have a blast! Children’s House Program List (Pre-K–Kindergarten) Open to children who will be enrolled at SJMS for 2018-2019 school year. Limit 24 students per week. ABC’s of Ocean Life Art Explosion! June 11–15 July 9–13* Dive in and explore the ABC’s of ocean life. Literacy- Students will be introduced to various artists and based activities, songs, and science experiments will mediums during this creative week. New skills be used to engage the children as they investigate life and techniques will allow children to unleash their under water. Children will be invited to compare and imaginations! Crafty outdoor activities, murals, bubble contrast their discoveries with life on land. Splash pools, painting, and t-shirt making will guarantee to keep young outdoor water events and sprinklers will add to the fun! artists engaged. * Students who just completed Kindergarten may attend this week since no Lower Elementary Camp will be offered at this time. Author Adventure June 18–22 Each day, the students will study a different author through activities such as cooking, creative projects, outdoor exploration, and of course, reading books! Children will dive in to various stories learning what makes each author unique. Australia: The Land Down Under June 25–29 G’day, mate! Join us for a fun-filled week learning about the land down under. Children will explore various unique Australian plants and animals; kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, and blobfish are just a few of the native species that we will learn about. We will also discuss aboriginal culture and art. Children will also be invited to make a special Aussie birthday treat known as fairy bread.
Lower Elementary Program List Lower Elementary (1st–3rd grade) Students going into the 4th grade at SJMS may also participate. Minimum of 7 students required for each week. Students going into 1st grade may attend the Art Explosion! week in Children’s House since no Lower Elementary Camp will be offered that week. How It’s Made Book Travelers June 11–15 June 18–22 Students will explore, investigate, and experience “how Come travel with us into the worlds of several beloved it’s made.” We will begin the week discussing where our children’s books! Each day of camp, the group will focus food originates and how our clothes are made. I was an SJMS parent for the 2017-2018 school year and my payments will be withdrawn from my FACTS account. I am new to SJMS and will be paying with cash, check, or credit card. TOTAL **50% of tuition due at enrollment, full payment due by June 15th. Registration due by May 15th. FACTS payments may take at least 10 days to process.**
Other things to note: Once registered for a time slot, you may make changes only if approved by the Summer Camp Coordinator. Those registered for AM only must be picked up by 12:45 pm. Registration Dates: Registration Form and Registration Fees are due by May 15th. Tuition Payment Dates: 50% tuition deposit due at enrollment. Tuition must be fully paid by June 15th. FACTS payments may take at least 10 days to process. Cancellations: Cancellations for any of the 4 weeks must be received by May 15th. Emergency Contact Forms: Emergency Contact Forms must be filled out no later than June 1st. Swapping Weeks: Due to space and staff restrictions, week swapping is not available except as approved by the Summer Camp Coordinator. Camp fees are non-refundable. Mid Summer Registration: There must be space available for your child and registration fees may be applied. Please note that payment for the week must be made prior to the first day you bring your child to Summer Learning Camp. Full Days: We have designed the Full Day option of Summer Learning Camp to include extended day care. The learning experiences are from 9:00-3:30, but children can be dropped off as early as 7:30am. The day ends at 5:45pm and all children must be picked up no later than 6:00pm. A fee of $20 will be charged for late pick-up. Toilet Trained Policy: All children must be toilet trained by the first day of the registered camp week. Toilet-trained means that the student must be able to know when he or she is about to urinate or defecate and must be able use the facilities without assistance. CH Camp: Children’s House camp is only open to families who will be enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year. Current SJMS students who just completed Kindergarten are welcome to enroll in CH camp if no openings in Lower Elementary are available.
