Camp PEAK June 21 through July 30 (6 weeks) 7-8 grade This program is for children who have completed seventh or eighth grade. Campers participate in various sports, arts, crafts, creative expression, and cultural and educational enrichment activities. Our camp offers a unique experience with several planned field trips designed to ensure a fun, but educational experience. This camp is held at Fancher Elementary School. Week 1: Story Book Summer Week 2: Camp Olympics Week 3: No camp July 5 Get in the Game Daily Schedule Camp times Activity 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. Drop-off Week 4: 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Theme weeks with hands-on academic Build It! focus. Week 5: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch and clean up. PEAK Camps: What you need to know PEAK - Partners Empowering All Kids PEAK (Partners Empowering All Kids) is designed to provide all school age children with educational, enriching, and recreational activities in a fun and safe environment by keeping schools open until 6 p.m. on school days and turning schools into community centers for kids during the summer months. PEAK began as a 21st Century Community Learning Center funded by the U.S. Department of Education in August 2001. Although grant funding ceased in May 2005, the PEAK program doors remain open through major grants from United Way of Gratiot and Isabella Counties, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, other community support and nominal tuition. PEAK is administered by the City of Mt. Pleasant Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Mt. Pleasant Public Schools and in collaboration with a number of local agencies. We strive to provide a safe environment for all those who attend camps. PEAK is a licensed program that meets internal and external audits annually. Who Can Attend Staff Children who have completed developmental kindergarten through Our camp staff has been carefully selected, trained and certified, eighth grade will discover the awesome benefits of education and ensuring a safe and exceptional experience for all campers. Safety is our top Field Trips priority. Local area field trips, such as skating and park visits will vary by site. All on-site activities are closed when field trips are planned. Additional Camp Programs Counselors in Training (CIT) - June 21 through July 30 Monday through Friday (times same as PEAK camps) Cost: $150 City resident fee/$200 non-City resident fee Registration deadline: June 2 The CIT program is a leadership training program for teens who are 14 and 15 years old. It is designed as on-the-job experience where teens attend trainings and have the opportunity to participate in program activities. Interested teens must complete a registration form and emergency contact information form which are available at the Parks and Recreation Office in City Hall. British Soccer Camps - August 2 through August 6 Challenger Sports’ British Soccer Camp is the most popular soccer camp in the country. Each year, more than 1,000 Challenger coaches help the company develop an innovative approach to coaching youth soccer in the U.S. Our experienced staff has studied the game at all levels and has identified the key techniques and skills your player needs to reach their true potential.
