The National Book Development Board (NBDB) is the book agency of the Philippines, which envisions a nation with a vibrant book publishing industry. The NBDB is also the leading catalyst for building a culture of reading and authorship, serving Filipinos of all ages. What is The Book Nook? The Book Nook is a reading center for families. Kids and kids-at-heart can borrow and The read books that are proudly Pinoy. An initiative of the National Book Development Board BOOK ,The Book Nook provides Filipino-authored and published books by setting up safe and friendly reading spaces aroundthe country, especially in indigenous and isolated areas. It NO K By The National Book Development Board TM aims to enhance nation-building and cultural empowerment. It also serves as a resource center for children, parents, and teachers to encourage them to read critically and write their own stories. When did this project begin? The year 2021 is the pilot implementation of the Book Nook Project under Executive Director Charisse Aquino-Tugade supported by Chairman Dante Francis Ang II and the Governing Board. Can anyone visit The Book Nook? What types of reading material can we find at The Book Nook? Yes! We have books for kids and kids-at-heart. 65 to 70% of our titles The Book Nook carries fiction, non-fiction books, are for kids and teens while about 30- and reference books that focus on the following: 35% of our titles are dedicated to Culture, History, Art, Values, Environment, Health, adults. Science, Work, Identity, Diversity, and Peace Are there books in our language? Our books are in Filipino, English, and mother languages from around the country. The Book Nook encourages communities to write their own stories. Let us know if you have a story or if there are books that you would like to see in The Book Nook!

Target: 52 Book Nooks The 3rd Floor of the Bontoc Public Market serves as the Book Nook site. Partnership Acceptance: 85% Field Workers Deployed: Brgy. Anos, Los Baños, Laguna in partnership with The Arts 45 project & area coordinators Research and Training Institute in Southern Tagalog, Incorporated (ARTIST, Inc.) hosts the Book Nook site. On this site in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat will rise the Book Nook project as a safe and A day care center is turned into friendly reading center that will serve Blaan and Manobo readers. a Book Nook site in Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi to cater the needs of Tausug, Sama-Bajau, and other indigenous communities. Who will implement the Book Nook project? The project is a collaboration among various entities including the: Local Government Civil Society Non-Government Units (LGUs) Organizations (CSOs) Organizations (NGOs) The NBDB is the lead agency for this project with the help of the local project execution. When will the Book Nooks operate? The Book Nook Project will be launched on September 2021, based on this timeline: May to June July to August September Planning and Launching of Capacity-building partnership-building Book Nooks Are there plenty of books in each nook? True to the NBDB’s commitment to serve all segments of the population, a variety of books will be provided in each of the reading spaces such as Filipino children’s books, young adult novels and series, academic books, graphic literature, classics, and even self-help books. There will also be reading materials that are written in the area's mother tongue. Can readers borrow books? Yes! readers can borrow books by filling up a Book Nook card and returning the books within 10 days after borrowing. It is the borrower’s responsibility to return the borrowed materials on its due date. If a borrowed book is lost or damaged, the borrower is obliged to notify the Book Nook staff. What other activities can be done in The Book Nook? Aside from reading, there will be storytelling, arts and crafts, workshops, and book club meetings. Readers can also arrange their own events too!
