Welcome We provide education and training to thousands of students each year, providing a huge range of courses to suit every level. Pre 16 Provision for 2019-20 We can offer a number of different study options for our 14-16 learners. These range from Entry 3 and Level 1 with progression to Level 2. The choice and level of course will be discussed with the Student Services Manager at an initial meeting to look at options. We can offer infills into main Study Programmes which run from first week in September to 19 June 2020. We also we have some nurture groups which are much smaller groups with extra support in place where the learners can flourish in a very supportive atmosphere. The dates of those are listed below. HAIR AND BEAUTY These courses will provide you with a range of creative hairdressing skills as well as building your own personal development in readiness for progressing onto a higher level of study or into an Apprenticeship. Course: City and Guilds Level 1 Pre 16 Diploma Intro to Hair and Beauty – small nurture group with support Start Date: 9/9/19 End Date: 26/6/20 Days: TBC Start Date: 30/9/19 End Date: 26/6/20 Days: TBC Start Date: 13/1/20 End Date: 26/6/20 Days: TBC
CONSTRUCTION Course: E3 Construction Skills (Multi Craft) Study Programme Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC This qualification provides the ideal introduction to the construction industry and covers essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, construction operations, wall and floor tiling, electrical and plumbing. This level is an introduction to the types of hand skills that are involved in the construction industry. Course: E3 Construction Skills (Multi Craft) Pre-16 small nurture group with support This course is specifically for pre-16 learners and is a small ‘nurture’ group. The students will gain City and Guilds Entry Level 3 Award in Construction Skills. Start Date: 4/11/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: WED,THURS AND FRIDAY
CATERING Course: Level 1 Hospitality and Catering Study Programme Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC This qualification will give you an insight into the types of jobs that are available within the catering and hospitality industry, from a professional chef and baker to working in front of house in our very own Glasshouse Restaurant. This as well as many other job opportunities within the hospitality industry.
IT AND BUSINESS Course: Restart Study Programme – roll on, roll off Study Programme Start Date: 14/10/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC Restart encompasses a range of qualifications including Award, Certifi- cate and Diploma in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Devel- opment. Students have the opportunity to gain life skills as well as the chance to discover which subject they would like to study further with a range of subject specific options. The qualifications also contain units to address learners’ needs in Literacy and Numeracy as well as Personal Development areas such as Emotional Intelligence or Computer Basics These qualifications will provide learners with an opportunity to: • Gain knowledge and understanding of transferable vocational skills such as problem solving or time management. • Gain an overview of key skills and knowledge relevant to their chosen sector in work experience or simulated work settings. • Progress onto a higher level qualification in a vocational subject.
Course: Level 1 Business and Computing Study Programme Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC This one-year study programme builds the foundations within business and computing. It includes units that develop understanding in the key areas that will encourage employability within industry such as profes- sional behaviour in an office environment, planning and running an enterprise activity, using a computer in business administration and IT user fundamentals. HEALTH AND CHILDCARE Course: Health and Childcare beginners course (NOCN Award) Start Date: 15/10/19 End Date: 26/11/20 Days: Mon and Tuesday An introduction to the health and childcare sector over 8 weeks. This is planned as a course with very small numbers (around 6). Other courses will run in 2020 depending on demand. Possibility of learners staying after completing the Award and achieving a Cert/Dip. Including maths and English if required. Course: LEVEL 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care Study Programme (Infill into course at any time) Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: MON,TUES AND WEDSNDAY This is the full-time Diploma course teaching only healthcare units. This could be to achieve the full Diploma qualification, or to attend and gain unit only accreditation or possibly an Award or Certificate depending on length of study. Course: LEVEL 1 Diploma Caring for Children Study Programme (Infill into course at any time) Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: MON,TUES AND WEDSNDAY This is the full-time Diploma course teaching only healthcare units. This could be to achieve the full Diploma qualification, or to attend and gain unit only accreditation or possibly an Award or Certificate depending on length of study. *Childcare Centre awarded Outstanding rating
ENGINEERING AND MOTOR VEHICLE Course: Entry 3 Motor Vehicle Study Programme Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC This general vehicle maintenance course will provide you with a basic understanding of vehicle systems and principles. In addition to theory based lessons you will carry out practical work in the fully equipped workshops. These sessions provide the opportunity to work on modern vehicles and industrial standard equipment, learning basic vehicle maintenance skills including work on tyres, engines, exhausts and brakes. Course: Level 1 Engineering Study Programme Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC This engineering course will provide you with a basic understanding of engineering systems and principles. In addition to theory based lessons you will carry out practical work in the fully equipped engineering workshops. These sessions provide the opportunity to work on engineering machine tools and equipment, and learn some basic engineering skills including machining, maintenance, fabrication and welding.
ART AND DESIGN Course: Level 1 Exploring the Creative Arts and Media Study Programme Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC This is an exciting course which uses a mixture of art, design and creative media to help you develop confidence, industry knowledge and skills in order to progress on to a Level 2 qualification. This course is perfect for creative thinkers and will teach you the relevant skills needed to develop your original ideas and artistic flair. You will be expected to learn basic theory and complete practical projects in a range of areas including; art, design, mixed media, photography, video and audio, and enterprise activities.
SPORT Course: LEVEL 1 Sport, Physical Activity and Healthy Living Study Programme Start Date: 2/9/19 End Date: 19/6/20 Days: TBC Course includes • Certificate in Sport and Physical • Award in Active, Healthy Living • Award in Lifestyle Management • Award in Fitness and Physical Activity • Award in Preparing for Employment in the Active Leisure and Learning Sector

This will need to be to be signed and returned to College prior to the student starting on programme. NB:Course may be subject to change • We will ask School to provide information to the College about the young person and will want to meet them with parents and a representative from the school. • We will ask the School to provide us with the student’s Passport so that we have a full understanding of their needs and how we can best support them. • If the student has an EHC plan then the School will retain ownership of this and if the student requires more support than we would normally give then it will be the school’s responsibility to provide this. • The SLA will also set out the cost of the programme and our payment terms which are: • Invoice to be paid in full within 14 days of commencement of programme • If the student leaves before the end of the programme the following will apply: • If the student leaves before week 4 – 50% will be refunded • If the student leaves between weeks 4 and 8 – 25% will be refunded • If the student leaves after 8 weeks – the full amount will be retained by the College.
SUPPORTING YOU STUDENT SERVICES The College has a wide range of pastoral support for students and for the pre16 students this includes a designated Co-ordinator who will deal with all pastoral issues and report on attendance. The Co-ordinator will also provide half-termly reports to school on how the student is progressing. She will also provide the school with any updates or concerns. In addition the College has a team of Student Support Advisers who will deal with any concerns or worries and will refer to Safeguarding if necessary. If there are any safeguard- ing concerns the Safeguarding Team will contact the school’s safeguarding lead and discuss.
