Active Healthy living
Low Impact Cardio Workout: Drop in Centre & Zoom (Lan Gao)
This 30 minute workout is an effective way to exercise the whole body without stress. This class presents a well -
choreographed walking routine through different movements building cardio endurance, coordination and
strength. Running shoes are needed.
Cost: $8.00 Date: Thursdays, January 7th - 28th (4 weeks)

Stretching & Strengthening: Drop in Centre & Zoom (Lan Gao)
Designed to increase strength, flexibility, balance, improve posture and activities of daily living. This 30 minute
class is good for all fitness levels. Chairs are used for seated exercise and standing support, light weights and
stretch bands are used for various flexibility exercises.
 Cost: $8.00 Date: Tuesdays /Thursdays January 5th to 28th (4 weeks/8 sessions)

Yoga for Vitality: Drop in Centre & Zoom (Shirling Kao)
Tone and stretch through yoga poses, while incorporating meditation and breathing exercises. This class is
executed from the floor. Please bring your own yoga mat.
Cost: $42.00 Date: Thursdays, January 7th – 28th (4 weeks)

Zumba: Drop in Centre & Zoom (Ildiko Horvath) *Please Note There is a Day and Time Change*
Zumba is a Latin dance inspired, easy to follow, calorie burning fitness program. Zumba borrows movement
patterns from Latin and other cultural dances.
Cost: $40.00 Date: Mondays, January 4th – 25th (4 weeks)

A Form of Tai Chi: Drop in Centre (Donna Komhyr and Jan Glew)
Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial form and uses a series of movements preformed in a slow focused manner.
Join the practice to improve balance, strength, memory, flexibility and overall mood.
Cost: $2.00 Drop in pass Date: weekly Mondays/Wednesdays starts Monday January 18th

Pilates on a Chair: Drop in Centre & Zoom (Lan Gao)
With a focus on breathing and alignment, slow and precise movement are designed to develop long and lean
muscles which increase flexibility, improve posture and provide better mobility. This exercise is performed on a
chair to make it accessible for all.
Cost: $8.00 Date: Tuesdays, January 5th – 26th (4 weeks)

Line Dance: Drop In Centre (Joan Walls)
Learn new steps through a selection of music provided by our instructor. Enjoy a fun afternoon of dance,
everyone welcome! Please register in advance for each day.
Cost: $2.00 Drop in pass Date: Wednesday January 6th and 20th

Shuffleboard: Drop in Centre
This game is played on the floor courts. You must call in to register for your time slot.
Cost: $2.00 Drop in pass Date: weekly starts January 8th

Darts: Drop in Centre
An evening of darts. You must call in to register for your time slot. Bring your own darts.

Pickle Ball: Drop in Centre
A fun game to play! This hybrid sport is a mix of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Please bring your own
paddles. Call to register for a time slot to play.

Quilting “4 Patches and Friends” (Susie Kainula)
A great new pattern to learn. Some sewing and quilting knowledge required.
Cost: $10.00 plus supplies Date: Monday, January 18th

Painting Watercolours “Techniques” (Marilyn Mills)
Marilyn will be here to teach you various techniques in watercolours. She will provide helpful tips to make your
painting projects stand out. Painting experience required.
Cost $43.00 plus supplies Date: Tuesdays, January 26th to February 16th (4 weeks)

Quilting “Floating Eights” (Donna Christie)
Using 5 inch squares you will make this quilt to the size you wish. Make this into a cute I spy quilt for children
using colours and different patterns ex. Golf, Hockey Dance or other fun patterns.
Cost $7.00 plus supplies Date: Friday, January 29th

Knitting/Swedish Weaving/Crochet
This group meets weekly to work on individual projects. You must come with all your own supplies.

Open Painting: Drop in Centre
Work on your own individual painting project. You must bring all your own supplies.

Creative Memories Photo Scrapbooking: (Lanny Clarke)
Let’s get creative and organized through scrapbooking. Lanny will be here to guide you through steps in creating
your memorable pages. Please bring all your own supplies.

Christmas Cheer
This group of ladies meet weekly to work on various projects that will be donated to Christmas Cheer.
The centre supplies yarn, please bring your favourite pattern and needles.
Cost: Free Date: weekly, starts Wednesday January 6th

Comfort Dolls
This group of volunteers come to knit, crochet or stuff dolls. Projects are then donated to the Sault Area Hospital
Volunteer Resource Centre. Yarn and patterns are supplied. Please bring a set of 4.5mm needles. Call to register.

Hug a Tree, Knit a Scarf
Knit, crochet these scarfs in various colours and sizes. These scarfs will hug a tree at Clergue Park and other
outdoor skating parks. Yarn is supplied. Bring your own needles.

Traditional Hand Rug Hooking (Betty Currie)
Using recycled wool cloth and other fabrics, complete a rug hooking project.

A representative from the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will be hosting a book chat for all seniors. A great way to
share your favourite book, poem or movie.

Recipe Club: Drop in Centre and Zoom (Mary Piraino)
Share a favourite recipe, a memory or story to accompany your recipe. Visit, eat, and laugh! Feel free to bring
your own snack or drink. Due to COVID no sharing please. This month’s theme is Quick and Easy receipes.

Meditation in the 2021 World/Coping with Covid Stress: Zoom (Bonnie Baranski)

Join Allyne as see explains this course outline to you. Following this information talk there will be a 6 week

Learn How to use your Own Body’s Energy: Drop in Centre and Zoom (Allyne Leonard)
Discussions on your body’s energy systems and how it can affect you while touching upon 8 subtopics such as
learning how to boost your immune system to help fight Covid; dissolve pain and tension in your body and learn
how to improve your circulation.

Cooking with Cathie: Drop In Centre and Zoom (Cathie Bishop)
Join Cathie as she instructs you how to make a tuna cup sandwich and a lemon poppy seed muffin. A sample will
be packaged up for you to take home and try for those attending in house.
