Induction Program for Success Located in Al Quoz 1, Dubai, DIPS is a school that perseveres to achieve high results. The top priority of DIPS is quality education for all students which prepare them to be digitally literate, lifelong learners and productive citizen. Achievement scores are well above the national average. The school offers an induction program for newly joined staff to assist them and make sure they are aware of the school’s practices, culture, and functions, their role as teaching staff, and other staff’s responsibilities. The checklist provided at the end of this document will help and assist new employee in gathering all the needed information and resources to continue their job role smoothly. Program Goals The major goal of this program is to build a sense of culture and to articulate the school’s vision, mission and values. It involves a structured training program for all teachers new to the school. This training provides not merely an orientation to the school’s organizational pattern, but also a framework of the school’s vision for student learning and success. Therefore, the objectives of the program are to: 1. Familiarize the inductee with the school’s policies and practices and to integrate them into the social system of the school and community 2. To provide an opportunity for the inductee (new teacher only) to analyze and reflect on their teaching with coaching from HODs. 3. To support the development of the inductee’s professional knowledge and skills. 4. To provide continued assistance to face the challenges of the new employee. 5. To cultivate a professional attitude toward teaching and learning, and working with others such as students, parents and colleagues. An orientation program will be presented by administrative staff and HODs prior to the beginning of each academic year in September (in case of new employee joining at the beginning of the academic year). A similar program will be presented to any newly hired inductee throughout the school year by a team of professional to ensure the continuity of the program. The orientation will include presentations on classroom management, students’ exceptionalities and referrals, observation and evaluation of professional personnel, and current issues in education. Ongoing activities throughout the year will focus on any other activities deemed appropriate to familiarize the inductee with the DIS. Some of the topics that will familiarize inductees with the DIS will include but not limited to: ➢ The KHDA Inspection Framework ➢ School calendar ➢ School behavior Management Plan and code of conduct ➢ Social Emotional Learning Program NEW STAFF INDUCTION PROGRAM 2021-2022 2
➢ Courses of study and curriculum ➢ Curriculum mapping ➢ Bell schedule (varies among phases) ➢ Teacher’s handbook ➢ Supplies ➢ Grading procedures ➢ Parent-teacher meetings schedules ➢ Legal issues (HR office) ➢ Professional development program schedules ➢ Technology involvement ➢ School policies Date and time of Induction Program The teacher Induction Program is planned to be conducted on the first week of teachers’ attendance.
