HOMESCHOOL GYM & SWIM The YMCA Healthy Living Team works to help our future leaders build a healthier spirit, mind and body. We are excited to resume our Homeschool Youth Gym & Swim program helping your youth develop healthy living habits! This 4-week program will include fun and interactive skill building, a variety of youth sports, swimming and a chance for youths to gain experience working as a team. SWIMMING LESSONS Group swim lessons once a week for 30 minutes! When: April 3-April 29 Cost: $24 for members / $48 for non members Classes available are: Parent Child (Ages 6 months to 3 years old) Parents accompany children in water, introducing infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water. This class helps develop motor and cognitive correlation for swimming, breath control, and work with floating and rolling. Time: Friday-11:00AM, 12:00PM / Saturday- 9:30AM Preschool Swim Basics (Ages 3 to 5 years old) Geared for children between the ages of 3 and 5 learning basic swim safety and skills. In this class they will learn basic breath control, floating, safely entering and exiting the water, and swimming on front and back. Time: Monday- 4:00PM / Tuesday-10:00AM, 10:30AM, 11:00AM, 4:00PM Wednesday- 4:00PM, 4:30PM / Thursday-3:30PM, 4:00PM, 4:30PM / Friday-11:30AM, 12:30PM Saturday-9:00AM, 10:00AM, 11:00AM, 12:00PM School Age Basics (Ages 6 to 12 years old) Fit for children between the ages of 6 and 12 learning basic swim safety. In this class they will learn basic breath control, floating, safely entering and exiting the water, and swimming on front and back. Time: Monday- 4:30PM, 5:00PM, 5:30PM / Tuesday-4:30PM, 5:00PM / Wednesday-5:00PM, 5:30PM Thursday-5:00PM, 5:30PM / Saturday-10:30AM, 11:30AM School Age Advanced Strokes (Ages 6 to 12 years old) School Age Advanced Strokes is geared for children between the ages of 6 and 12. The children will be further learn technique and mechanics for stroke development. “Participant must be able to swim 15 yards on front and back proficiently prior to enrollment or may be moved to basics class.” Time: Tuesday-5:30PM REGISTRATION: Visit our website, www.lafayettefamilyymca.org or stop by the YMCA! EARLY LEARNING AT THE Y Early learning classes at the YMCA are aligned to the Indiana Academic Standards. This framework provides core elements that children should achieve from birth to age five in order to be ready for future success.
