Athletics All freshman are eligible to participate in fall sports. Some fall sports start in late July; contact AHS athletic department or look at their website for dates and information. To participate in the spring semester and beyond, you must be taking at least 5 credits and must have passed 5 classes the previous semester. Pick up your physical form in the spring. A doctor must sign off on your physical.
HOMEWORK HOMEWORK COUNTS!!! If you want to pass a class you MUST complete all of your homework. DEADLINES matter and many teachers will not take late work for full credit. GET ORGANIZED: plan and prioritize your work. Use your time effectively.
Other tips for success…. Attendance is important! Consider a balanced approach to high school. How many hours in the day does your child have to get everything done that he/she wants to accomplish? Encourage involvement in school/community activities. Partner with your school resources; teachers, counselors, administrators
What’s next? Talk with your students about the information Ms. Wright and Ms. Lindsay have shared with them about high school planning and Naviance. Talk to teachers if you have questions about their recommendations for academic classes. Students planning to apply for an academy or AVID should ask teachers for recommendations BEFORE winter break! Encourage your students to explore the elective offerings (don’t forget the Curriculum Fair on Jan. 4!). Sign-up Genius to schedule registration conferences with Ms. Wright and Ms. Lindsay will be made available upon return from winter break.
