I. Implement & Communicate Preventive Measures ON CAMPUS Put up posters (downloadable) Print / display brochures (downloadable) Modify / Increase cleaning services o Certain elements must be cleaned daily (at least) • Door Knobs •Light switches • Restroom sinks • Student desks Use soap dispensers and paper towels only Install antibacterial soap dispensers Other relevant recommendations to students, regarding risky habits/practices HOUSING Enforce same/similar measures as on campus ON TRIPS Remind students to wash hands Distribute mini-packs of paper tissues Have antibacterial soap available at bus entrance
III. Emergency Response Plan & Gripe A Protocol KNOW/CONSIDER your MEDICAL INSURANCE’s PROCEDURES/REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISH an ISOLATION housing location for suspected cases (if needed) ATTEMPT to identify higher-risk students (respect confidentiality & privacy) Establish REPATRIATION guidelines SUSPECTED CASES (Students, Faculty & Staff) Anyone with symptoms has to go home and remain there(isolated) in communication with campus-designated staff member Enforce Cell. phones & provide internet access at housing Continue with courses/work while student/faculty is in isolation (plan for on-line work) Keep your insurance company in the loop Call 112 if symptoms worsen WORSENING & CONFIRMED CASES (Students, Faculty & Staff) Follow procedures as agreed with your insurance Call 112 Supervise move (if necessary) to: Designated isolation housing Hospital
IV. Consider Privacy Issues STUDENTS, FACULTY & STAFF HAVE PRIVACY RIGHTS. THEY ARE NOT OBLIGED TO RELEASE INFORMATION ON: Pre-existing conditions • High-risk Groups • HIV • Diabetes • Eating disorders • Heart / lungs conditions • Other Symptoms of H1N1/Gripe A RESPECT RIGHTS TO PRIVACY ALSO WHEN COMMUNICATING WITH AUDIENCES
