Coming to school ● Start time has changed to 9.00 am every day. ● No congregating outside the school or on the grounds ● Staggered arrival : cars and pedestrians are asked to arrive after 8:50 ● All students must be in class by 9:00 which is the start of Assembly (M/T/Th/F). On Wednesdays, the first class starts at 9 am, roll call will take place during this class. ● Go directly to your assembly classroom or, on Wednesdays, to your first period room. ● Sanitise on entry to the building. ● You must wear a mask in the building. ● There will be staggered break times and lunch times:
Classroom Etiquette ● Sanitise hands in class on entering the classroom. ● Sit in the assigned seating plan. This will be devised and completed when you come to school ● Highest level of hygiene awareness. ● Cooperation with staff and peers. ● Clean desk and sanitise at the end of class ● Ensure that the classroom windows and doors are open Between Classes - Corridors ● Walk in single file and maintain social distancing ● Sanitise hands on arrival at next lesson ● Bathrooms are not available between classes ONE WAY SYSTEM ● All students must follow the one-way system arrows and the up and down stairs. ● At the end of each class students will use the one way map to plan their route to the next class. ● SEE MAP of SCHOOL at the end of this document. Bathroom Protocol ● Students may access their designated bathroom only at break and lunch time. ● Bathrooms allocated to year groups are open during breaks only. ● During class time, when a student asks to go to the bathroom, please note that the only bathroom open is opposite room 9. Break Time Protocols ● Maintain 2 meters social distance ● Remain in your designated year group area at break times. ● You will be given a designated seat for lunch for contact tracing purposes. ● Take personal responsibility to clean up your area ● No group gatherings on corridors
Lunch Time Protocol ● Respect that ½ school are still in class (remember that lunch times are staggered) ● Go to designated year group areas/classrooms only ● Remain with your year group/class – no congregating with other year groups ● Be mindful of social distancing - 2 m. ● Any student who wishes to go home for lunch must complete a Lunchtime Pass Request which must be processed by the school management. School Bags ● Lockers are being made available to 1st and 2nd year students only, in this school year. ● In cooperation with your teachers, minimize school bag contents. ● Ensure you are clear about the textbooks that are NOT needed. ● Covered outdoor bag racks will be available for PE gear. Practical Lessons • Go to the designated specialist/practical room in single file. • Do not congregate with other year groups. • Follow teacher instructions re: use of equipment (sanatising etc.) • If waiting to enter a practical room, ensure social distancing at all times. Use of ICT Rooms • All computers must be sanitised before and after use. • Follow your teacher’s instructions. PE Classes • PE classes will be based in the outdoor school facilities. • The changing rooms at the pitches will be utilised. • Go to the changing rooms at the pitches to meet your teacher. • Students may not wear PE gear to school on the day they have PE.
Leaving the School • It is critical that students leave the school at the end of day while maintaining social distancing • If walking/cycling home – go directly • If travelling by bus – maintain social distance while waiting Supervised Study • Supervised study will be available for 3rd and 6th years only from the start of the year. • Provision of Study for other year groups will be reviewed Extra-Curricular Activities • The school will follow NPHET advice in relation to a re-introduction of extracurricular activities. Code of Behaviour • The existing Code of Behaviour especially Section 5.4 on Health & Safety applies and is connected with the Covid-19 Response Plan. Uniform • All students are expected to comply fully with the uniform expectations. • It is advisable under Covid-19 guidelines to be mindful of hygiene in relation to school uniforms. • Therefore students are recommended to remove their uniform immediately when they return home. • Care should be taken to hygienically maintain uniforms. Phones ● Phones must be powered off throughout the school day. ● You are not permitted to use your phone in school. If you need to make contact with home at any time, you may go to the office and the secretary will contact home for you. ● If a student is found using a phone, the phone will be confiscated and held until the end of the school day as per the behaviour code.
Face Covering in School • Cloth masks are recommended • Have three masks per day for changing in school. • Have a plastic pocket to store your mask in when you take it off. • Wash masks daily Managing Anxiety • The return to school may cause certain anxieties. • Teachers are very conscious of supporting our students on return. • Our Pastoral Care Team and Year Teams will work with each class group.
