Need to Know Information G’day 5 km FUN RUNNERS & CORPORATE CHARGERS Thanks for participating in the 23rd McDonalds Townsville Running Festival. Why fun? Because that is what 5 km fun running is all about, not too long, not too short, just fun! To help your day flow smoothly there are some key points to take note of: Race bib collection Corporates and Teams can pick up from Jezzine Barracks race precinct on the Friday between 12pm and 1:30pm for ease of distribution should you wish. Opens Saturday (31st July) at Jezzine Barracks. Registration is open from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Bag drop Bags can be left at the bag drop area adjacent to registration from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday, or on Sunday morning. Bags must be clearly labelled with your name and bib number. Pre-race Please assemble in the correct starting zone (marked by flags) as soon as the 5 km Juniors have started (8:30 am). Please be aware that Half Marathoners and 10 km runners may be transiting through the start zone while you are preparing to start. Please give them space, encouragement and do not impede their progress.
Toilets are available immediately adjacent to the start zone. Race start Your race will start at 8:35 am sharp. On course You are sharing your course with many other runners. Please be courteous to other runners, encourage them but do not impede them. Remember you wouldn’t want to be impeded either! As you approach each drink station the second table will have water and the third table hydration (Amino Extension Electrolyte). The first table has special drinks for marathoners. It is compulsory that you wear your race number at all times on course. Failure to do so may result in you missing a timing check point and subsequently be classified as DNF. On-course marshals, Police, and traffic controllers are in place to guide and keep you safe. Please respect these officials and obey any directions they give. If you are unable to complete your run please ensure that you notify one of the marshals of your name and bib number. The marshal will be able to assist if you require medical assistance.
Registration & Race Number Collection You must pick up your race number, which is in your race pack, at Jezzine Barracks on the Strand between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, 31st July, 2021 (the day before the event). Corporates and Teams can pick up from Jezzine Barracks race precinct on the Friday between 12pm and 1:30pm for ease of distribution should you wish. Travel & Parking Best parking options are in Rowes Bay with access via Howitt Street and in North Ward via Landsborough Street. Marathoners can access early parking in Cook Street prior to 4:45am. There will be limited parking in Isley Street. Course roads will be closed from 4:15am. Please do not park across driveways. Allow extra time to travel, park and walk to the event.
