WHAT’S THE BUZZ Palmer Josh What’s the Buzz? A statement on the clubs’ website reveals that the directors, officials and the players of Wrexham have publicly apologised to their fans upon reaching their worst ever league position last week. The side lost 2-1 away at fellow struggler’s Ebbsfleet United to go bottom of the league, five points off of safety. They have been in the National League since relegation from League 2 back in 2008, having been in the third tier in 2005. They were also last in the second tier in 1982, and have played in the European Cup Winners’ Cup through their exploits in the Welsh Cup, once reaching the quarter final, as well as beating giants FC Porto. “As lifelong fans of the club ourselves who follow the team up and down the country, we really understand the frustration, embarrassment and upset this is causing everyone and that we need to urgently address the situation”, the statement read. The side won 2-0 at Eastleigh on Tuesday to take them back up to 21st. Oldham Athletic have signed former Premier League midfielder David Jones on a short term deal. Jones came through the academy at Manchester United, but did not make a first team appearance. After loans at Preston North End and NEC Nijmegen, he transferred to Derby County, where he helped them gain promotion to the top flight, including making a few appearances. He then moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers, helping them gain promotion to the Premier League, before spending time at Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday, across the top two tiers. Dino Maamria, the Oldham manager, said: “He’s coming to Oldham to make a real impact and help the team climb up the table”. The Latics currently sit in 20th place in League 2, five points off of the relegation zone. 38 BARNETFC.COM
