editorial H ere we go again, another season has begun and with it the excitement and promise of what has yet to come for Bohemians this campaign. Unfortunately we begin this season as we ended the last, watching from home once more as our beloved Bohs take to the Dalymount field. While I personally believe we shall see crowds trickle back once the vaccination process has ended (hopefully this year...), it’s scant consolation for trying to build up the same urge of excitement at kick off as would normally be automatic where we in Dalymount. The banter, the laughs, the slagging and Premier Division hand-shaking with named and nameless friends and acquaintances is still 1923/24, 1927/28, on hold and while missing the match is a great disappointment, for me and 1929/30, 1933/34, many others I’m sure, the hole of missing the actual social engagements that 1935/36, 1974/75, come with each game is yawning. 1977/78, 2000/01, Win, lose or draw, curses, hollers or frustration would be set aside as 2002/03, 2008, 2009 pockets of fans would hang around afterwards to discuss the evening’s fare before heading home or to the pub for some welcome and week-ending FAI Cup pints to soothe the vocal chords and continue the debates. It’s not the 1927/28, 1934/35, same trying to master the Guinness pour from a can while sitting at home 1969/70, 1975/76, with a buffering stream and listening, sorry, enduring Ant & Dec laughing gormlessly on the tv in the next room. But things will change. We will 1991/1992, 2000/01, experience such nights again. When, who knows, but we will. 2008 To business, and we have taken the decision to print each programme League Cup as per normal this season, made available by subscription. The those who 1974/75, 1978/79, 2009 have signed up, many thanks and continue to spread the word amongst the faithful. And if anyone knows someone who supports another club Setanta Cup (for their sins) pass the word on that they can get a copy of their away 2010 programme from The Bohs Store. On that note, I must thank Laura and Deirdre in the club shop for not only setting up the subscription but for Leinster Cup making sure all copies are posted well in advance of the match. 1895/95 - 2016: A record 32 titles Alan Bird, Editor LoI Shield 1923/24, 1927/28, Contact: bohsprog@gmail.com 1928/29, 1933/34, Editor/Production: Alan Bird 1938/39, 1939/40 Contributors: Tony Magner, Stephen Burke, Robert McDonald, Dan McSwiney, Ryan Clarke, Aidan Fitzmaurice, Paul Walsh, Declan Farrell, Irish FA Cup Gerard Farrell, Keith Long, Chris Brien 1907/08 Photos: Stephen Burke, Eddie Lennon, Martin Doherty, Conor Ryan, Peter O’Doherty, Sportsfile Dublin City Cup Sales: Gerry Juhel, Ray Larkin, Killian Molloy, Timothy Boland, Joe Collins, 1935/36 Cormac Hurrell, Oran Tully RIP Printed by: Just-Print. A Happy New Season to everyone, I hope you are keeping safe and well. It has been a long hard road for everyone and I offer my sincere condolences to all those in the Bohemian family who have lost loved ones during this difficult time. At least the football is back to distract us and, hopefully, we will get a full season of fixtures. We might even get some sort of crowds in the grounds by the end of the season. It would really make such a difference to have fans in Dalymount and I’m sure it makes a difference to the players. Once again, there has been a great deal games, we’re still unsure if it will be one leg or of comings and goings during the off season. if the home and away ties will return. with Keith Long T he club has made steady, sustainable from the dugout progress in recent years and our ambition is to continue that growth into and beyond in a manner that re ects our values and beliefs which places people at the forefront of everything we try and do. We are looking for progression not perfection and understand that progress is not always straightforward.
