August 23- September 26, 2019 In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the School of Visual Communication Design, you are enthusiastically invited to participate in our first alumni show in the new Taylor Hall Gallery. Submission is open to all graduates of the program. ENTERING THE SHOW • You may submit up to 3 pieces of work. All mediums are accepted, including dimensional pieces, interactive, and motion design • A series of work that is meant to be displayed as one piece will be considered as one piece • All work must be mounted, framed, and/or suitable for hanging/displaying in a gallery presentation. o If your work is unusual in any respect, please contact us in advance to discuss presentation details o If you are submitting books, lease let us know if they should be made available for handling or not o Cases are also available for small dimensional pieces • Work should be received by the Taylor Hall Gallery by July 15, 2019. For interactive work or motion design, please submit high quality/ high resolution work on a thumb drive. For those of you that are not local, work should be shipped and insured at your expense with return post provided. Submitted work must be labeled and accompanied by an entry form and signed loan agreement. Donations to the scholarship fund are appreciated even if you do not plan to enter the show We will make every effort to hang every piece received, but reserve the right to curate as needed based on the gallery size and layout. LOAN AGREEMENT SHOW: VCD 50th ANNIVERSARY ALUMNI SHOW AUGUST 23-SEPTEMBER 26, 2019 TAYLOR HALL GALLERY 1. Taylor Hall Gallery at Kent State University (“University”), will exercise the same care in respect to loans as it does in the safekeeping of its own property. 2. Transportation and packing: Transportation of the work to and from the Taylor Hall Gallery will be at the lender’s sole responsibility and expense, unless otherwise agreed to in writing and attached to the agreement. At all times, Lender remains responsible for packing and securing work to and from the University. 3. Damage: In the event of damage or loss it will be the Lender’s responsibility to establish to the satisfaction of the insurance underwriter that the declared value is the fair market value for the items that comprise the Exhibition. This can be done with appraisals, with documentation that provides proof of sale of similar items, and in other ways acceptable to the underwriter. In no event will University be liable to Lender for damages in excess of the amount of any insurance recovery from the University’s insurance policy, nor for any loss or damage due to causes excluded from coverage under such policy. Furthermore, the Lender agrees that in the event of damage, Lender releases University’s officers, employees and agents from any liability for any and all claims arising out of such loss or damage. Damages to loan property, whether
in transit or on the premises of the University and regardless of responsibility shall be reported immediately to the Lender. 4. University Insurance: The University will insure the items in the Exhibition while they are in the University’s care, custody or control according to the terms and conditions of the University’s insurance policy. 5. Lender’s Insurance: If the Lender continues with their own insurance for the period of the loan, the University will not accept responsibility for any errors or deficiencies in information furnished to the Lender’s insurers or for any lapses in coverage. Prior to the shipment of the work, the University must be supplied with a certificate of insurance naming the University as an additional insured. It is understood that any Lender insuring his or her own loan automatically waives right of subrogation unless information to the contrary is received in writing before the loan leaves the possession of the Lender. 6. Exhibition: The University has sole discretion as to whether, for how long, and in what manner objects loaned shall be exhibited, as well as determining what written and descriptive material will accompany the show. 7. Publicity: Lender agrees that items lent to the University may be photographed and reproduced in publications and for publicity purposes connected with the exhibition without any fee due to the Lender. 8. Gifting: If the work/collection is intended to become a gift to the university, a separate agreement will be executed by both parties. SIGNATURE: By signing below, I have read the Loan Agreement, and agree and accept the conditions and terms of this loan as stated above. The agreement cannot be altered waived, or otherwise affected except by written consent of both parties. This document represents the entire agreement of the parties, and in signing the undersigned warrants, represents, and certifies that the Lender is the legal owner or authorized agent of the legal owner of the property listed on this document.
