Around the Circle Volume 1147 Circle of Friends Ministry 105 E. Stuart Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853 August 2019 SHARE THE GIFT! It’s the smile on their faces that tell the story. The wonder in their eyes and the excitement in their voices as they call to one another to come see… see the squirrel, the big orange gold fish, the bumble bee or the tall tower reaching into the sky with bells ringing for all to come and enjoy. Standing quietly observing their fun, I thought of Mr. Bok and his desire to make the world a better place to live. Could he have known that this would include my Special Friends. Could he have imagined that those responsible to take care of his lovely gardens would continue his legacy, sharing the gift even with those whose hearts were longing to learn and ex- plore... although they learned slowly? Dear Pastor Smith, Visiting Bok Tower has opened a whole new world to my Circle of Friends as we’ve explored the magic in We want you to know we miss you and wish you a the gardens, rolled down the grassy hills, raced happy Birthday. What FUN at our first “Open House” on Friday night, August 1st, when friends, families, staff and Board members came together to meet and greet. Special thanks to Ms. Alison, Pastor Massey, Ms. Katie for the good food and information for the new term. Special thanks to Ms. Pamala, from the Gift Shop, who saved parents time and energy by notarizing their applications. Have you always wanted to help Circle of Friends but just didn’t how? Here are a few things that you or someone you may know might do to help: handy man for small jobs, welder to repair Mike’s Snack Shack wagon axel, trimming our Hong Kong Orchid Trees. There are volunteer openings in administration, reception, and working with students. There is a job opening for part time music teacher. Call 863-679-2507
Our students have adopted two feral cats, a mama and baby ATTENTION! (which was born in the alley) behind our gardens. They love them, talk to them and feed them. We are thinking before we acquire any more kittens maybe someone would help us get these two neutered/spade? Help! Also, as you can see by the pictures below, Mike is still raising funds for his new ice maker and now his Snack Shack awning is deteriorating! All of these needs are wonder- ful ways to help our friends as we provide a place where they can belong! Snack Shack opens this week. Remember our window is open 9– 4:00p.m. Stop by and say hello! Mike came back to Circle today and found his orange wagon’s axel broken. He has the green wagon and he hopes to get it rolling on the 15th. Over the summer his Snack Shack awning went caput– and now we are praying for a new one! How Do I Know? The Bible Tells Me So! Did you ever hear words like this? “You’ll never make it.” Or “you are not good enough” or “you are not educated enough” or “you can’t run a non-profit” I have. Negativity is all around us. The truth is I look to God- the Lord Jesus Christ! Years ago I wanted so much to teach my little girl to be like Jesus. God had allowed her to be born with a devel- opmental disability. For nearly 20 years I cried because I wanted to teach her to be like Jesus. Then just before she died, God spoke to my heart that He wanted to teach me to be like Jesus! Now I’m realizing that all these years I’ve been wanting and helping my SPECIAL kids in our program to reach their God given potential. Just this morning, nearly 20 years later, I’m realizing He is wanting me to reach my potential! And folks, I can’t do that if I listen to doubt and unbelief– like, “I can’t”. Because the fact is - the truth is...GOD CAN! And as long as He has called me to run a non-profit He supplies what we need, and the people we need to do it! Whatever God calls you to do- you can be- cause “He Can”! Don’t listen to doubts, listen to God. We do our part and He will do His! We can’t be lazy, can’t be wishy-washy and we have to have a backbone- do our part and pray like crazy about our weak areas. Then KEEP our eyes on the BIGNESS OF OUR GOD! Remember through God we can! WE CAN— How do I know? THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO!

Ms. Pamala, store manager, works out their schedule. This began the Circle of Friends’ Ministry. In less than four years, the little Sunday school class became a non-profit Christian organization. The Board and I have chosen Saturday, January 11th, 2020 to celebrate the goodness of our God and where He has brought us! We are inviting all our founding family, old friends, new friends and the public to join in our celebration. We are inviting our City officials, along with notables like Grady Judd. We’ll celebrate our day with singing, dancing, all kinds of food, games, testimonials and fun for all. Please mark your calendar and make plans to join us as we celebrate and enjoy the goodness of our God, and fellowship with one another. Feel free to make suggestions! Know that you are welcome to help with the planning– we just might like your ideas. You are welcome to start call and RSVP so we will know you are coming. We look forward to seeing each of you!
