“Children learn best when the significant adults in their lives - - parents, teachers, and other family and community members -- work together to encourage and support them.”
Y8 Assessment & Consolidation Week Why do we have an assessment week? To help prepare your child for exams and assessments. To teach them different ways to revise. To help them plan their time. To give strategies to deal and cope with being nervous, stressed and anxious. When does it start and finish? This week and your child’s assessments will be finished on Friday 20th October.
Y8 Assessment & Consolidation Week When will my child’s assessments be? There is a time table in your child’s packs. Where does my child go for their assessments? All assessments are in the Hall, apart from Art and ICT these will be in lesson time when they don’t have another assessment. There is no assessment for PE For assessments during P1 and P2 your child must go straight to the hall. A seating plan will be on the exam board outside the hall.
Revision and Consolidation Week… During this first week your child will be taught strategies on how to revise by all their teachers. They will have time to practice these and create revision resources. During form time they will create a revision timetable which will help you plan their time at home so that they feel prepared for the assessments. Your child will be taught about the following: Exam writing techniques Research & analysis Understanding Exam Commands Memory techniques
The revision booklet!!! Please spend some time with your child going through the information, creating a revision timetable, having a go at the different revision strategies.
