But be prepared if… •Your child doesn’t want to come to school on the first day. •He / she comes for a few days and then doesn’t want to come. •He / she comes happily for half a term, but then gets tired and doesn’t want to come. None of this is unusual, so don’t panic.
Buddies Your child will be allocated a Buddy from Year 6 who will look after them and play with them for the first few weeks until they make friends of their own. Being a Buddy is a valued responsibility which Year 6 take very seriously.
Curriculum Evening A curriculum evening is held in the autumn term. At the curriculum evening you will be able to find out (and try out!) more about what your child will be learning in Reception.
In the meantime…… • Please practise counting objects and recognising numbers. • Encourage your child to practise writing their name. • Encourage your child to get dressed and undressed independently. • Encourage your child to toilet independently and wash their hands. • Use a knife and fork.
Parent Consultations Appointments are usually made for parent consultations in October and March so that you can speak with your child’s teacher to discuss progress and attainment. This will be reviewed in Autumn Term due to Covid-19.

Safeguarding We are here to keep your child safe and happy at school. If you have any worries about the health and safety and you, your friends or people you know or if you feel that something may be troubling them, you should tell an adult straight away. You can talk to any teacher or member of support staff in the school. Do not worry that it is something small – we would rather that you tell us things which turn out to be small, than miss something which is important
