KAIPARA FLATS SCHOOL NEWSLETTER NUMBER 3 20th FEBRUARY 2018 Every child succeeding in an encouraging and stimulating environment Tena Koutou Important Dates Term 1 2018: What an amazing week we had last week! On Takahe Celebration Assembly - Friday 23rd Tuesday evening parents came to school to February 2.30- 3pm Parent Interviews - 6th March 3.30 - 7.30pm and 7th meet with the teachers of their children, PTA March 3.30pm to 5pm and BoT members. It was an informal meeting Kea Celebration Assembly - 9th March Inter-school swimming event at Mahurangi which ended in a shared platter provided by College - 14th March our PTA. (Parent interviews will be held on 6th Celebration of Learning Week - 19th - 25th March and 7th March).Our annual picnic day was very 140th Anniversary of the Kaipara Flats Library - 25th March successful. One of the highlights of the day for Northern Arena Swimming - 22nd March me was the attendance of Ross Hood, who Tui Celebration Assembly - 23rd March PTA AGM - 23rd March clearly remembers being at the same picnic 82 Piwakawaka Celebration Assembly - 6th April years ago. The visit from 7 Blues players on Duathlon - 12th April Details to follow Thursday saw Takahe and Kea doing drills with the players before their pre-season game against the Hurricanes in Warkworth. "Kaipara Flats School Football Team" Notices If you are interested in training locally this season and with a qualified coach then please email Amanda or Sarah on pjandmaz@yahoo.co.nz or pineche@gmail.com with your Composting Collective child's name and DOB or call on 021 442 290 or 021 472 438. Trainings to start in term two on the new school turf on Thursdays 4:30-5:30pm and all matches played on Saturday mornings at Warkworth grounds or on the North Shore. Age group 8-9yrs but if you are keen and older please get in touch. You can be registered already with Warkworth AFC as this team will be affiliated to Warkworth. We need numbers ASAP to see if we can make this happen. Year of the Dog - Library Notice: Auckland Libraries is celebrating Lunar New Year from the th th th 12 of February to the 26 of February. On Tuesday , 20 February at 3:30pm, we will be supporting the SPCA by making animal toys out of recycled fabric. Music Lessons: Guitar & Drum classes will begin again at Kaipara Flats School in week 3. We currently have spaces available for beginners lessons to be held during school time. Kaipara Flats St John Youth has Queries to; Jeanette Sanderson 0276697852 or started and is keen for new members. It runs on 094224971 Wednesday 6pm-7.30pm at Ranfurly Hall. Children can be dropped off, or parents are welcome to stay and learn a few KAIPARA FLATS NETBALL CLUB – REGISTRATION skills themselves! Come and try it out for a week. DAY Thursday 8th March at the Kaipara Flats Sports Club St. John youth is New Zealand's leading youth programme Juniors at 5pm for young people aged 6-18. The programme focuses on College and Senior at 6pm. teaching young people first aid, health care, leadership and life skills- all in a fun and engaging environment that encourages growth and development. Lots of fun, friendship, games, movie nights, adventure camps and more. Each week is different, its local and only $10 per term for the first child and $5 for siblings. Mahurangi Junior Rugby Club Registration (for boys & girls age 4 to Year 8) Registration days Thursday 1st March 4-7 pm & Saturday 3rd March 10 am-1 pm at Mahurangi Rugby Club, Warkworth Showgrounds. Rippa (non-contact) for ages 4-7; tackle rugby for boys & girls ages 8-13; girls Rippa for ages 8-13.
