Chatfield News November 26, 2018 From the Desk of the Directors We hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving break! We are excited about what the next few weeks hold for Chat eld students and staff. First, we continue to focus on exceptional academic student performance. Students should be reading 20 or more minutes each night at home. Students should also be working on math facts or math homework at home . It is important that time is dedicated at home for school work and learning. The Book Fair is happening this week and we encourage you to check it out and purchase a few books. Your support of the Book Fair in turn supports the Chat eld library. In December we have the P.I.E. Santa Shop coming up. If you would like to help out, the set up is on Tuesday, December 11 at 6:00pm in the library. The shop will be open Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 12-14. Details to follow. Basketball season is upon us. The middle school girl’s teams have begun practice. Boys teams will be starting up soon. Chat eld Youth Basketball Program promises to be better than ever this year. Please sign your rst through fourth graders up. This program will provide students with the fun of the games and also develop strong skills to be able to play basketball in the future or just for fun. We also have a lunchtime 3 on 3 series starting in January that our upper elementary and middle school students. Parenting with Love and Logic Classes are coming in January. Having both participated in these classes with our spouses we can attest to the value they will bring to your family. We strongly encourage parents to participate. See the yer in this newsletter. These classes, while being sponsored by Chat eld, are open to the public. Holiday time is a special time, but it can also be a bit stressful for some children and families. If your family is in need please let Mr. Kraly know. There are people that would like to help out. Chatfield Archery Team Join the Chat eld Archery Team! Intro to Archery Night is Friday, November 30th at 6:00 p.m. The rst practice is December 7th. Team membership dictates that all archers should attend
all practices. Please see the yer attached to this newsletter for full details and registration form. Cold Weather Outerwear Now that the cold weather seems to be here to stay, please make sure that your children are prepared for the outdoors during the school day. It is important that they have hats, gloves, warm coats, snowpants and boots. If you have a need for any of these items, please contact Mr. Kraly. Chatfield Scholastic Book Fair is Here! Due to the snowday, The Chat eld Book Fair will begin on Tuesday, November 27th. What a great opportunity to begin your Christmas shopping! Box Tops for Education Please do not forget to keep clipping Box Tops for Education! Your support of this program earns the school money and allows us Chat eld P.I.E. the opportunity to do great things for Chat eld kids! SCHOOL CLOSING INFORMATION Now that we have had our rst school closing, Chat eld wants to make sure that you have access to school closing information. As you know, the weather and roads can be an issue this time of year. Mr. Kraly and Mr.
Young want you to know that they are always concerned about the safety of the students and parents. We will be working with the superintendents from other local school districts and the Lapeer Intermediate School District to determine the conditions around the county. If your local district is closed that does not mean that Chat eld is closed. The school directors will make the determination as early as possible and send out messages via: Radio: WWJ 950, WJR 760, WMPC 1230 Television: Fox 2, Local 4, ABC 7, WWJTV CBS, CW 50, ABC 12 Internet: www.chat eldschool.org Skylert School Messenger: Parents can adjust their contact preferences, E-mail, Text, Phone Call, by going into Skyward Family Access and clicking on the Skylert tab. As a general rule of thumb Chat eld School does not have early release on days where the weather and roads become worse during the day. We will provide updates regarding the status of evening activities by posting them to the school website. Road conditions can vary around the county and on different surfaces so as always use your best judgment and safety when determining if you should drive to school. Safety is always our rst priority. PIE Santa's Shop The Santa's Shop is coming in December. We are in need of crafts that you would like to donate that can be sold. In the past we have had many families donate great items to sell! Please help out! If you would please consider helping at the shop please sign up at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094FA5A922A02-chat eld3
Chatfield's Treat Street is Coming! On Wednesday, December 19 we will have a special day with reindeer visiting, horse-drawn trolley rides, and treats to enjoy. Please remember us when doing your holiday baking and please send in 1 to 2 dozen special treats on that day. Thank you! “A cold wind was blowing from the north, and it made the trees rustle like living things.” — George R.R. Martin
