ABOUT VBC V alley Bengali Community (VBC), established in 1987, is a socio-cultural organization promoting Bengali and Indian culture in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles area. It was started by a small group of people who wanted to preserve the rich art, literature and culture of West Bengal, India, situated thousands of miles away from their adopted home in the US. Over the last forty years even though technology and communication have advanced significantly, VBC has managed to stay relevant in the heart of every Bengali living in the area. The objective of the organization is to bring harmony in the community and increase opportunities for the fruitful interaction among its members. VBC has fostered a small- town ambience for the close-knit Bengalis of the Valley by arranging local celebrations of joyous occasions all through the year. In an effort to serve the community better, VBC organizes Durga Puja, the largest festival celebrated by Bengalis worldwide. The Event Durga Puja is an ancient festival to celebrate the victory of the revered warrior Goddess ‘Durga’ over the evil demon ‘Mahishasura’. As the goddess represents womanhood, this festival is also meant to honor female power in the Universe. This annual festival is celebrated all over the world and considered the biggest festival of the Indian state of Bengal, celebrated by Bengalis. Following five years of grand success, VBC is excited to organize its sixth year of Durga Puja in San Fernando and Conejo Valley to bring the vibrant community together. WHY SPONSOR VBC EVENT The Audience The population of Bengali Hindus worldwide is approximately 100 million. When it comes to Durga Puja, every Bengali in any part of the world gets excited about it because it brings an opportunity for them to connect with the community, get close to their friends and families and most importantly get a feel of home away from home. Since there is so much of enthusiasm around this festival within the bengali community, we have experienced an attendance of well over 500 people in a regular year. Besides members from San Fernando Valley and Conejo Valley, people travel from as far as Santa Barbara and South Bay to attend this festival. Attendees of this event represent a very diverse socio-economic profile. Whether they are college students or empty nesters, young families or family with growing kids they all belong to a community that is one of the most highly educated ethnic groups in the U.S. As per the Pew Research Center, more than two-thirds of the Indian Community in U.S 16 and older are in the profession of management, business, science and arts. Many of these attendees are established executives, entrepreneurs, engineers and doctors. The Opportunity With this event VBC brings a unique opportunity for businesses of all sizes to reach out to local community and expand their customer base. This is one of those communities where members trust recommendation from friends more than thousands of positive online reviews; they tend to use referrals from fellow members more than an advertisement in a local coupon book. This is what one of the sponsors mentioned about the opportunity - “In my business I rely on referrals and recommendations. I am working with VBC members for the last couple of years and they have helped me get many new clients”. This event will be a great place for any company to promote their business through lead generation or highlighting a product or by making a sell during the event. For early sponsors this is also an opportunity to directly connect with their customers for three consecutive months through different channels. Apart from business growth and marketing possibilities, by engaging with VBC and this initiative, a business will be able to make a social impact on the local community. VBC welcomes you to join the festivities and hopes to see you at the event. VBC Valley Bengali Community Durga Puja 2021
