WIKIPEDIA: Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motorsport where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels, while maintaining control from entry to exit of a corner. A car is drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, to such an extent that the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right or vice versa). As a motorsport, professional drifting competitions are held worldwide and are judged according to the speed, angle and line taken through a corner or set of corners.

DRIFT CARS • Drift cars are production-based vehicles. Most any drift racecar built on a stock unibody and within the displacement is eligible. There is 1 class of competition for 2021 - SupaDrift Pro Events. • Drift racing cars built essentially to FIA Championship specification. • Typical specs: • Production based “rear-wheel drive” vehicles • Locked or limited-slip differentials • Sequential shift or normal gearboxes • +- 1250kg’s • 4-cylinder/6-cylinder or V8 • 200 hp – 800hp / 200-700Nm torque • Fully modified motorvehicles • Suspension and Steering angle kits
DYNAMIC COMPETITION • 16 to 32+ drivers line up to start at once, each piloting 400+ Hp purpose-built drift car (rear-wheel drive) and pilot the vehicle through a challenging short course that features cones placed in strategic positions alongside the raceway and raceline (as set by judges). Actual qualifying, after negotiating the drift course, with a hierarchal running order determines advancement through a series of heat eliminations in tandem battles. • The action is non-stop, and strategy and consistence is critical. The highlight of the days activities is the tandem battles whereas drivers get down to the Great 8 and the competitions gets fast and close when the Top 4 take to the Blacktop. • A full motorsports circus that exploits family fun and lifestyle entertainment!

SD HISTORY The most thrilling motorsport to date and SA is no different! In 2009, XS Promotions set out to test the DRIFT market and appeal in South Africa and hosted 2 x events which has culminated in a full-blown series in 2011… XS Promotions and its alliances manufactured the 2011 SupaDrift Series of Events and have hosted no less than 6-8 x events/annum ever since...along with a full broadcast on Supersport: and Ignition TV. 2013 was a massive year of growth for SD expediting to more than a 13:1 ROI for sponsors! 2014 saw the launch of a parallel regional based grassroots series and 2015 has expanded into Mozambique and Namibia!! 2019 was a difficult yet rewarding year with the championship going down to the last event. In 2021, we are consolidating a series to a Triple Crown (3) event strategy and building better, bigger and media focused events that will impact the industry and market. Big Crowds and Big Value!
