Technical Regulations RADIO COMMUNICATION RACE NUMBERS The handheld radios used in Melbourne will be different to those used in Geelong. The radios will be distributed by the technical staff upon arrival at Albert Park and need to be handed in before returning to Geelong. International Radio Use Australian Law does not allow the use of International race radios at any time during the event unless they are registered before the event with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), http://www.acma.gov.au/. During the race riders must wear two body numbers NEUTRAL RACE SUPPORT and display a frame number fixed to the rear brake bridge, or base of the seat post. Neutral Race support will be provided by Shimano. One car and one motorbike will be part of the race convoy. Classifications and Prizes SECTION 4 TOWARDS ZERO RACE MELBOURNE - WINNER Awarded to the winning team of each of the women’s and men’s races, as determined by the team with the greatest number of points. The winning team plus the individual winner of the sprint classification for both men and women are required to present to the podium protocol for the awards presentation. CRITERIUM TEAM’S POINTS RACE This is a team’s points race with intermediate sprints and a final sprint at the end of the final lap - Points are awarded to riders which will then be added to their team’s points tally - The highest number of points for a team being the winner – In the case of teams having equal points, the winner will be decided by the final sprint placings. SPRINT CLASSIFICATION This prize will be awarded to the individual rider with the highest number of points won. Note: Riders must finish the race (barring a mechanical or crash) for their points to be counted in their team’s final points score. Convoy assembly takes place in front of the team T areas for front and rear of race vehicles, following the instructions of staff. From 15:00 to 16:00 there is a public access participation ride on the Albert Park circuit. If you are accessing the teams area during this time, via the PPO route and the course, please take care. Race Summary SECTION 5 RACE SUMMARY – MEN Date: Thursday 24 January Start Time: 18:20 Distance: 74.2km (14 laps x 5.3km circuit) Neutral Race Control: 1 lap Intermediate Sprints: Laps 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 Team Support Parking: Aughtie Drive (Grand Prix pit buildings) – open from 17:00 Sign On: 17:40 - 18:10 (please present for sign-on as a team) Arrival Time: eam areas open from 17:00. The women’s race will be on from 16:10 T to 18:00. The men’s race and support vehicles will be escorted during this time using the course and using the PPO route shown on the map on page 19. Course Details SECTION 6 COURSE DESCRIPTION The course is conducted on a 5.3km circuit in a clockwise direction. The course is a near replica of the circuit used for the Formula 1™ Grand Prix. The course is completely flat; therefore, no elevation is shown for the circuit. Corners three and four (a right then left) are technical being only 70m apart and in the narrowest part of the course. The left turn (second to last) is also technical, being more than 90-degree turn.
