April 29, 2022 Upcoming Calendar Events CONGRATULATIONS SCHOLASTIC BOWL TEAM Congratulations to Maple’s Scholastic Bowl team for their impressive showing at Wednesday’s regional meet. The team dominated two of three matches and showed great sportsmanship throughout! Great job Mustangs, you made us all very proud! Mrs. Stannard and Ms. Kane CONGRATULATIONS MAPLE SCIENCE TEAM On Saturday, April 23, the Maple Science Team competed in the Argonne National Lab Electric Car Competition and rocked it statewide! Our Challenger Team took 4th place for the race and engineering design, and our Competition Team took 3rd for the race and 2nd for engineering design! Science Team members are: Evan Webb, Lucas Zhang, Akhil Sheth, Hanning Zhu, Sushant Medikondla, Ethan Fink, Andy Domokos, Randy Yang, Sophie Hou, Aiden Zhang, Pavel Matokhin, Helena Yang, Sanju Purayil, Zarar Rizki, Claire Tsui, Ronir Patel. and team consultant Kendrick Lee 1
(KINGSTON DRIVE, WOOD DRIVE AND ELM RIDGE DRIVE) Re: 2022 Asphalt Street Rehabilitation Program - Pavement Resurfacing Dear Parents: This letter is to notify you about upcoming construction near Maple School and Glenbrook High School. It is anticipated that the Asphalt Resurfacing work will begin on Monday, April 25th and will last approximately 2 weeks. The work will involve the milling and paving of Kingston Drive from The Strand to P ngsten Road and Wood Drive and Elm Ridge Drive from Kingston Drive to Woodland Drive. WHAT TO EXPECT: Construction activities will limit access to streets where work is being performed. Staging of trucks, paving/milling machines and other essential equipment will create unavoidable delays. Please plan your travel accordingly. Kingston Drive, Wood Drive and Elm Ridge Drive will be open to through traf c. Please expect travel delays during this construction activity. Sincerely, Jim Huff Engineering Technician STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR District 30 will soon begin online student registration for next school year! • Discounted online registration begins Monday, April 25. • Directions and access information for online registration will be mailed directly to families. • Registration process, including payment, must be completed in order for classroom teacher assignments and advisory/locker assignments to be generated. • It is recommended to sign into your Parent Portal account before registration opens. • Please visit district30.org/parents/parentportal to view many guides about Parent Portal and resetting your account, if you are unable to sign in. • New for 2022-2023: Updated Payment Process. We are no longer using eFunds For Schools. Payments will now be made directly in Parent Portal on form R21. This form will only appear after the other forms have been submitted. SHIELD TESTING RESUMES AFTER POSITIVE CASE Students will resume SHIELD testing 90 days after a con rmed positive case of COVID-19. LEW BLOND RUN The 21st Annual Lew Blond Memorial 5K Run/Walk and the NEW “Little Lew”, will be held at 8:00 am on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Maple School. Sign up HERE by April 30 to save on the registration fee and guarantee yourself a race t-shirt. Flyer Link Here WEDNESDAY BELL SCHEDULE With SHIELD testing now being offered for all Maple students, vaccinated and unvaccinated, we are adjusting our Wednesday bell schedule to accommodate those testing windows during the nal four periods of the day. Please review this bell schedule which will only be implemented on Wednesdays. Please also note the change in lunch times if you plan to volunteer or need to drop off items for your student. STUDENT VACCINATION STATUS Fully vaccinated (two weeks past the second dose of the vaccine) students do not need to quarantine if identi ed as a close contact unless demonstrating symptoms associated with COVID-19. Please help us maintain accurate records regarding the vaccination status of our students. This information will assist us in keeping as many students in school as possible. April 29, 2022 District 30 Vaccination & SHIELD Screening Testing Dashboard PROCEDURE FOR CALLING YOUR STUDENT OUT FOR APPOINTMENTS Notify the health of ce at 847-400-8908 no later than the morning of the planned appointment in one of two ways: • 1) Call the nurse 847.400.8908 or the front of ce 847.400.8900 directly before 9:00 am OR 2) leave a message on the health of ce answering machine any time after 3:35 pm and before 8:35 am. • Share the following information: date and nature of the appointment, time you will be arriving to pick up your child, and how long your child will be gone from school • Please call the health of ce when you are on your way and approximately 5 minutes from school. We will call your student out of class and have them wait for you in the of ce. • When you arrive, come into the vestibule of the main entrance (door A) and your student will be sent out to you. MAPLE PTO WELCOMES 2022-2023 PTO OFFICERS Congratulations to our new Maple PTO Of cers! The Executive Board welcomes Co- President Anna Matuszewska, Co-VP Committees Amalia Pepek, and VP Tech/ Communications Lisa Rosengard. They will join continuing board members Janelle Duthie, Reem Given, Natascha Riesco, and Julie Yarosh. As we welcome our new of cers, we extend a huge thank you to exiting board members Christie Hartbarger, Laurie Glaser, Mehul Sheth, and Wei Zhang. We truly appreciate your leadership, dedication, and thoughtful contributions to the Maple PTO.
