ANNOUNCEMENTS 3/3/22 Attention seniors! Cap and gown orders must be placed as soon as possible! To place your order, please go to the Class of 2022 Teams page and click the cap and gown channel! On this channel, you will find the link for the cap and gowns! All cap and gowns will be delivered to the high school at the same time on a later date! Attention Seniors Any interested senior who is interested in obtaining extra cash for college should strongly consider completing scholarship applications. Any senior could apply for scholarships if you meet the sponsor’s criteria. Active scholarships are posted on our guidance website. Printed copies could be found in the guidance office. Remember, every scholarship has a deadline. Attention Seniors: Luzerne County Community College is hosting an informational presentation and instant decision day on March 15th. Any interested senior should sign up in guidance. Athena Club Athena Club- The next Athena Club meeting will be held Wednesday March 16th in room 213 directly after school from 2:45 to 3:15. Attention Class of 2023: -Ticket sales for the Junior Semi Formal will take place in room 240 of the high school. Students may buy tickets at the beginning or end of the class periods. -When buying a ticket, please turn in a list of names for each person who will be sitting at your table. There are tables of 8, 10 and 12 available. -Tickets are $25 per person. -You must give your student ID/lunch card number when buying a ticket. If you are buying a ticket for your date, please make sure you know their student ID/lunch card number. -Tickets are available February 28 through March 9. Chess Club Chess Club There will be a Chess Club meeting this Thursday 3/3/22 after school in the High School Library. The meeting will last until 4:00pm. All interested students in grades 9-12 are welcome to attend. E4E There will be an E4E meeting on Friday, March 4th from 2:45-3:30 p.m. in room C32 at the Career Center. Please ensure your rides are here on time, and new members are always welcome to join. Ecology Club The next Ecology Club meeting will be held Wednesday March 9th in room 213 directly after school from 2:45 to 3:15. FBLA FBLA REMINDERS: All students attending the State Leadership Conference will need to submit their emergency forms to Mrs. Kozlek by end of day Friday March 4th. Forms are available on teams and were emailed to students last week. There will be a brief meeting Thursday March 3rd in the auditorium at 5:00 pm for students who wish to deliver forms there. Otherwise email a scanned copy to Mrs. Kozlek before the deadline. Capriotti orders will be due by March 11th. Please email your adviser any questions.
Foreign Language Organization The Foreign Language Organization is back with Mrs. Stock. The Foreign Language Organization explores and recognizes various cultures through our monthly meetings and activities. If you are interested in joining, you can sign up now in room 238 during periods 5/6 and 8/9. You can also email stockb@hasdk12.org to be added to the TEAMS page. Hunting & Fishing Club The hunting/fishing club is conducting their winter league shoot every Wednesday, at high mountain archery club in Freeland from 6:00 - 8:00 any high school student is welcome to attend. Organ Donation Awareness Mrs Yanac would like to thank all teachers and students who participated in the Organ Donation activities last week. The presentation and the survey link are still open for any teacher who wishes to show it later. A big thank you to all students who submitted designs for the t-shirt contest for the Hazleton Area Life Savers' first Organ Donation Awareness shirt. She will continue to accept submissions through the end of the week. Mrs Yanac is in Room 222 in the High School. Winning design will be announced next week. April 24 is the Donor Dash in Philadelphia. See Mrs Yanac or her school website for details. STEM School Any student in grades 9-11 interested in taking the test to apply to attend the Hazleton Area Academy of Sciences for the 2022-2023 school year, should see their school counselor and tell them you want to take the test. Your name will be placed on a list, and you will be notified when testing will occur. HAHS Symphonic Band Practice will be held on Thursday, March 3rd after school in the band room. Tutoring The HAHS Cougar Library will now be open after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 5:00PM. Miss Ash and student tutors from Student Council and National Honor Society will be available to help any student. Yearbook Information Yearbook Information The Class of 2021 Yearbooks have arrived! You may call the Main Office of the high school (570-459- 3221, Ext 81500) to make specific arrangements for pickup of your prepaid order. Senior Photo Submissions for the Yearbook Senior photos, baby pictures, and candid photos are currently being accepted. Additional information may be found on the Yearbook webpage. To get there, first, go to the HAHS website; choose the word Clubs from the top of the menu; then, choose Yearbook where you will see a clear explanation on how to send in senior pictures. *The deadline for these submissions is Apr. 1, 2022 Attention Students and Staff Members of the 2022 Yearbook would like to invite everyone to submit candid photos from any school event from which pictures have been taken. Be sure to include the names of the individuals pictured.
Class of 2022 Yearbook Orders Now is the time to order your Class of 2022 yearbook. This year's version is going to be amazing and filled with pictures of once in a lifetime memories. Guidance Information Are you considering a career in the medical field and would like to participate in a medical mentorship with current medical college students? Registration information is on guidance website. Would you like to explore careers in engineering to learn about careers in mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, computer, environmental, biomedical and petroleum engineering. Your involvement will allow you to participate in a field trip to Wilkes University to explore their engineering programs. Registration information is on guidance website. Pennsylvania Free Enterprise **Attention sophomores and juniors applications for Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week are now available in the guidance office or visit pfew.org to apply for this unique and challenging program that provides hands on opportunity to learn about business and our free enterprise system. Learn what it takes to succeed in our fast-paced world filled with endless challenges and changes. Athletic Tennis Team Spring is coming, so get out and join a spring sport. Poplar St., Hazleton) Freshman Baseball - Any boy in grade 8 or 9 interested in playing baseball on the Freshman team should attend practice/tryouts on Tuesday 3/8/22 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Harp Rec Center (601 S. Poplar St., Hazleton) Varsity Softball - Any girl in grade 9 through 12 interested in playing softball for the high school should attend practice/tryouts on Monday 3/7/22 from 3:00 to 5:00 at Harman Geist Stadium. If the weather is inclement, it will be held at the high school gymnasium from 7:00 to 9:00. Middle School Softball - Any girl in grade 7 or 8 interested in playing softball for our middle school team should attend practice/tryouts Thursday 3/10/22 from 4:00 to 6:00 at Heights Terrace Middle School gymnasium. Varsity Boys and Girls Track & Field - Any Boy or Girl in grade 9 through 12 interested in participating on our track & field teams this spring should attend practice/tryouts on Monday 3/7/22 from 3:00 to 5:30 at the high school track complex. Middle School Girls Track & Field - Any girl in grade 7 or 8 interested in participating on our middle school track & field team should attend practice/tryouts on 3/7/22 from 4:00 to 6:00 at Maple Manor Middle School gymnasium. Varsity Boys Volleyball - Any boy in grade 9 through 12 interested in participating on our volleyball team this spring should attend practice/tryouts on Monday 3/7/22 from 3:30 to 6:00 at the high school gymnasium. Varsity Boys Tennis - Any boy in grade 9 through 12 interested in playing tennis for the high school should attend practice/tryouts on Monday 3/7/22 from 3:30 to 5:30 at Hazleton Middle School (Castle). Varsity Girls Lacrosse - Any girl in grade 9 through 12 interested in participating on our Lacrosse team should attend practice on Tuesday 3/8/22 from 7:00 to 9:00 at Harman Geist Stadium. If the weather is inclement, practice will be held at the high school gymnasium from 7:00 to 9:00. No experience is necessary and extra equipment is available if you do not have your own. Newcomers are welcome and will be taught. PLEASE REMEMBER YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THESE PRACTICES OR TRYOUTS IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD A SPORTS PHYSICAL THIS SCHOOL YEAR OR HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PIAA MANDATORY PAPERWORK.
