Deputy Principal Dear Parents We hosted our annual College Open Evening last night. This is an important event for the College as we have many prospective boys and their parents coming to the school to gain an insight into what we offer. I would like to thank the boys for the important role that they played on the evening and to you, as parents, in helping with lifts and further support. Some of our Grade 11 College boys acted as tour guides and were enthusiastic ambassadors of Clifton. I received a number of very positive comments about the boys and they did themselves proud. We, as a school, can be immensely satisfied with the variety that we offer and of the educational opportunities that abound. After registering with us for the evening, the Grade 11 boys took our visitors on a short tour of the campus, stopping at various points where they were able to describe, first hand, the experience of daily life as a Clifton boy. The intention was also for each tour group to get a feel of what our campus has to offer. Our passion is the development of Cliftonians into young men of significance. Throughout the tours, I saw our visitors engaging with our boys and staff, in order to gain a sense of the ethos their sons would enjoy as a member of the family of young gentlemen of Clifton College. A reminder to prospective parents and boys: our Scholarship Examinations will be written on Thursday 1 March. These examinations are comprised of English and Mathematics papers. Boys wishing to write these examinations should contact Mr Mezher at school or via email: bmezher@cliftonschool.co.za . Please note that the College and the Prep will be closing at 13h00 on Thursday 1 March. More information will be sent closer to the time. In closing, I would like to highlight two things: the work of the Clifton Film Academy and the imminent reveal of the 2017 school magazine. The essence to the work of the school’s Film Academy can be enjoyed by viewing this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGHzlGq5trk They are a committed bunch who add value and flavour to Clifton. The 2017 school magazine was included in the goodie bags for visitors at last night’s open evening. The feedback from our prospective families has been overwhelmingly positive. Thank you to the staff who were involved in the planning and editing for this revered publication. 2017 has been acknowledged properly in true Clifton fashion. Yours faithfully BARRY MEZHER DEPUTY PRINCIPAL: MARKETING
