Our feet shall stand in thy gates: O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is builded as a city: that is at unity in itself. O pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls: and plenteousness within thy palaces. Words: Psalm 122: 1–3, 6–7 Music: Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry 1848-1918 WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION The Rector Please sit ANTHEM Deep river Deep river, my home is over Jordan. Deep river, Lord, I want to cross over into camp-ground. Oh chillun! Oh don’t you want to go to that gospel feast, That promised land, that land where all is peace. Praise him in the cymbals and dances: praise him upon the strings and pipe. Praise him upon the well-tuned cymbals: praise him upon the loud cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath: praise the LORD. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen. THE FIRST LESSON Read by the Free Warden LAMENTATIONS 3: 17-18, 20-26 Please stand HYMN: O God, our help in ages past O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home;
Under the shadow of thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is thine arm alone, And our defence is sure. Before the hills in order stood, Or earth received her frame, From everlasting thou art God, To endless years the same. A thousand ages in thy sight Are like an evening gone, Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun. Time, like an ever-rolling stream, Bears all its folk away; They fly forgotten, as a dream Dies at the opening day. O God our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Be thou our guard while troubles last, And our eternal home. Words: Isaac Watts 1674-1748 Tune: St Anne attrib. William Croft 1678-1727 Please sit THE SECOND LESSON Read by the Master REVELATION 21: 1-5 Please kneel or sit PRAYERS FOR THE QUEEN AND THE ROYAL FAMILY Almighty God, the fountain of all goodness, we humbly beseech thee to bless our Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth, Charles Prince of Wales, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall and all the Royal Family; Endue them with thy Holy Spirit; enrich them
with thy heavenly grace; prosper them with all happiness; and bring them to thine everlasting kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen FOR THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED O God, before whose face the generations pass as leaves on the trees and in whom we all live and have our being, we bring before thee all former members and benefactors of this Company. DAVID AGGETT JEFFREY HORDLE PETER LUSH DAVID MARSH DAVID PAYNE ANTONY WOODLEY As thou didst uphold them in their day, so may we be sustained and enabled to find our true selves in thy service. Then Lord at the last grant that we may with them be refreshed in the multitude of thy heavenly peace and be made partakers of thy glory. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen FOR THE CITY Grant us, O Lord, a vision of this City as fair as might be in fulfilment of thy purpose: a City of Justice, where none shall prey on others; a City of plenty, where greed and poverty shall be done away; a City of brotherhood, where success is founded upon service, and honour is given to nobleness alone; a City of peace where order shall not rest on force, but on love of all for each and of each for all. Hear thou, O Lord, our prayer and pledge of love and service; and hasten the day of the Eternal City which comes down from heaven to earth from thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen FOR THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF FAN MAKERS O God whose living breath filleth the world, and quickeneth the soul of man, Prosper we pray thee, all institutions within the City and Commonwealth, which following after beauty, truth and goodness, seek under them to enrich the lives of thy children. More especially at this time we ask thy blessing on the Company of Fan Makers, on the Master, the Wardens, the Court of Assistants, the Liverymen and other members of the Company and the Officers; that all those who serve, or who shall serve therein, may in their several duties be guided and refreshed by the Holy Spirit. Who with thee O Father, and thee O Blessed Jesus. Amen These our prayers and praises let us humbly sum up before the Throne of Heaven, in the words which our Lord himself hath taught us, saying, Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil; For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
Please sit ANTHEM Nunc dimittis Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace: according to thy word. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation: which thou hast prepared before the face of all people. To be a light to lighten the Gentiles: and to be the glory of thy people Israel. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.
