Gosford Hill School presents A Virtual Tuesday 15th December 2020 6:30pm - 7:30pm Youtube Channel Facebook Page
Welcome Welcome to our annual Carol Service, held via virtual means! The Carol Service is very much an established tradition, and I hope will mark the start of your Christmas celebrations. It’s a really lovely way to come together to think about those who are less fortunate than ourselves and to reflect on what we maybe often take for granted. After a particularly challenging year for many of us, we were more determined than ever to overcome the obstacles that social distancing presents us with in order to bring you a sense of normality through music, and a sense that the Christmas season has started. In our busy lives, it’s good to take time out to stop and think. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the wealth of musical talent that we have in school, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those students, colleagues and parents who have worked hard to make this evening such a special occasion. Finally, I’d like to wish you a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas, and a Happy New Year for 2021. Nigel J. Sellars Headteacher
Order of Service Once in Royal David’s City Once in royal Davids city, SOLO Stood a lowly cattle shed, Where a mother laid her Baby, In a manger for His bed: Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ, her little Child He came down to earth from heaven, All Who is God and Lord of all, And His shelter was a stable, And His cradle was a stall; With the poor, and mean, and lowly, Lived on earth our Saviour holy. And through all his wondrous childhood He would honour and obey, Love, and watch the lowly maiden, In whose gentle arms he lay; Christian children all must be Mild, obedient, good as he. For He is our childhood’s pattern, Day by day, like us, He grew; He was little, weak, and helpless, Tears and smiles, like us He knew; And He feeleth for our sadness, And he shareth in our gladness.
And our eyes at last shall see Him, Through His own redeeming love, For that child so dear and gentle, Is our Lord in heaven above; And He leads His children on, To the place where He is gone. Not in that poor lowly stable, With the oxen standing by, We shall see him; but in heaven, Set at God’s right hand on high; When like stars his children crowned All in white shall wait around. Welcome from Revd. Martin Davis (from our usual venue of St Mary’s Church, Kidlington) 1st Lesson – The Fall of Man Genesis iii

God of God, Light of Light, Lo! He abhors not the Virgin’s womb; Very God, Begotten, not created. O Come let... See how the shepherds, Summoned to his cradle, Leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear; We too will thither Bend our joyful footsteps; O Come let...
