PRAYER OF THE DAY P: O God, from you come all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works. Give to us, your servants, that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments; and also that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may live in peace and quietness, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. A: Amen. KYRIE 3
HYMN OF PRAISE 4
WORD Psalm: Psalm 85:8-13 I will listen to what the Lord God is saying. (Ps. 85:8) 8 R: I will listen to what the Lord God is saying; for you speak peace to your faithful people and to those who turn their hearts to you. 9 A: Truly, your salvation is very near to those who fear you, that your glory may dwell in our land. 10 R: Steadfast love and faithfulness have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. 11 A: Faithfulness shall spring up from the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven. 12 R: The Lord will indeed grant prosperity, and our land will yield its increase. 13 A: Righteousness shall go before the Lord and shall prepare for God a pathway. GOSPEL (Please stand as you are able) 5
Gospel: Matthew 7:21-28 R: The Gospel of Matthew in the seventh chapter. A: Glory to you, O Lord. 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' 23Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.' 24 "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. 26And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell — and great was its fall!" 28 Now when Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astounded at his teaching, R: The Gospel of the Lord. A: Praise to you, O Christ. CHILDREN’S MESSAGE: Shawna Berg MESSAGE: Pastor Sue Olson 6
