THE STILLWATER COVE’ER June - July 2021 Commodore’s Log Derby Day...“AND WE’RE OFF”...to a AHOY MEMBERS! Great SYC 2021 Season! By Vice Commodore Peter Hanlon The Pier is open and the Boats are in the water! The Members Directory and Membership Cards are out! Social Events are scheduled and being enjoyed! Sailing Classes begin on June 7 through July 30! SYC’s 2021 Season is underway! Yay! Many thanks to our hardworking Flag officers and Board of Directors! Live On Our Website! ########################## ########################## ########################## ########################## ########################## ########################## ########################## We have two exciting new features on our website. The first is a Pier Live Cam shot of Stillwater Pier (snapshot shown above). This is a live feed from one of our security cameras which shows Charlie’s Place (our Harbormaster’s shack), the floats, and the wave conditions in Stillwater Cove. You can check out the activity on the pier before you visit, or you can get a sense of the wave conditions before a boat outing. This live cam picture can be found under the “About Us” menu here. The second new feature is an online display of current weather conditions from our new weather station mounted above Charlie’s Place. This system measures wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and rainfall. This information is displayed in real time on our website in a panel on the home page of the website. A more detailed summary of conditions can be found again under the “About Us” menu here. Susan Stilwell's Memories of Susan’s strongest and fondest memories are of SYC’s Cherished Years at SYC annual party at Mimi Jenkins’ house. By Megan Mayer She remembers the incredible hors d’oeuvres for which Susan Stilwell started her years with Stillwater Yacht she and her brother endlessly searched and enjoyed at Club in the 1960’s, and her life has woven through the parties. Arrange a Burgee Exchange If you plan to visit a yacht club whose burgee we don’t yet have (check the list at sycpb.org, under “Burgee Exchanges”), please consider exchanging an SYC burgee to add to our collection, displayed at the boat house. SYC burgees are available in the Beach Club office copy room. Please use the index cards there to sign out and/or check in your burgees, noting the exact name of the club and with whom you have made the exchange.
