THE ROAD AHEAD Since 2010, thousands of Israeli youth have come to understand their identity and life purpose at the National Leadership Center. The road ahead offers even greater opportunities to shape Israel’s next generation of leaders. Our partnership and collaboration with Israel’s Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defense are opening the way for a national impact in high schools all across Israel, with members of the IDF, and with military, police and emergency personnel, parents and business leaders. a letter from heather Today the National Leadership Center stands at a place of unprecedented opportunity. A GREAT START WE ARE CELEBRATING A MILESTONE Since 2010, more than 85,000 Israeli youth have experienced a journey that helps them understand their identity and purpose in life. THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CENTER AT A GLANCE: • An outdoor learning environment on 142 acres in Ariel, Israel. • Ten outdoor education courses: The Odyssey, the Exodus, Alpine Tower, Climbing Wall, Leap of Faith, Leap of Faith II, Giant Swing, Low Ropes, and Team Development Courses I and II. • Current annual participant capacity increased to 24,000. • Biblical curriculum featuring leaders from Israel’s history helps participants understand their life purpose. • Participants include students ages 12-18, educators, parents, Israel Defense Force recruits, Police and Emergency Service personnel. 4
FAVOR FOR THE JOURNEY COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS AND FUNDING HELP MAKE THE NLC AN INTEGRAL PART OF ISRAEL’S FUTURE: • The Ministry of Education collaborates on curriculum development. They have invited us to bring NLC programs into high schools across Israel and requested a new program for student council leaders and a parent-teen program. • The Ministry of Defense is collaborating on special programs for youth from minority communities and multi- session courses. • The City of Ariel provides support for NLC operational staff and infrastructure development. 6
WHERE THE ROAD WILL TAKE US WHILE MAINTAINING THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CENTER AS OUR HUB, WE WILL FOCUS ON: • Growing from a Local to National organization delivering programs throughout Israel. • Increasing effectiveness through refined content, measurement, and increased engagement using multiple sessions. • Becoming a Movement that provides a variety of programs that goes deeper and wider, reaching Arab Israelis, Orthodox Jews, parents and teens, and educators. • Increasing cooperation by working closely with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defense in response to their requests and invitation to collaborate on development new programs. HOW WE WILL GET THERE In 2021 and 2022 we plan to increase significantly the number of students who experience programs outside the NLC facilities. We will also develop new courses custom- ized for each audience, and use digital and online resources to increase delivery and effectiveness of our content.
